It looks to be a difficult week ahead for any value bets in La Liga. I evaluate value a few different ways and the number of tips has still stayed very low.
As always I’ll give you my thoughts on this weekend’s games and any bets I have.
The only game on Friday night is Girona v Real Sociedad. There is very little history between these two so head to head results mean very little. Both sides have been impressive in their own way this season and although you can pick holes in certain results, both sets of fans must be quite happy right now. Real Sociedad look the likely selection for this one as they have very good away form and Girona are also better on the road. Pinnacle are offering 2.69 and with more history, I think this would be a system selection. It isn’t though and instead, I’m looking at Over 2.5 goals at 1.8 with Ladbrokes. Both sides are struggling to keep the ball out of their own net but both can also score goals.
Alaves have been very poor this season and a trip to Getafe may not make things any easier. Getafe are one of those sides that are beatable (especially at home where their results have been poor) but I don’t know if Alaves are capable of getting to the heights needed to get that away win. No bet for me as this has too many ‘ponderables’.
Leganes v Barcelona should be much more clear-cut in terms of results. Barça should win this one and Leganes’ home form will probably help. Barcelona are the second best away side in La Liga and their seven clean sheets in 11 games have helped them to the top spot. Barcelona to Win to Nil is 2.15 with Ladbrokes and I’m tempted, very tempted to back that.
Sevilla v Celta Vigo should be a very entertaining game. Celta Vigo have definitely been worth the price of entry this season, followers will have seen a combined 39 goals go into 1 net or the other. Sevilla have been a bit more circumspect but they’ve had their moments as well. A great game to watch, maybe not one to bet on.
I’m avoiding the Madrid derby out of principle. Both sides have let me down this season and I haven’t forgiven them yet.
Sundays games are a mixed bag. Malaga v Deportivo La Coruna should be avoided by anyone who likes money whilst Espanyol v Valencia is so close to having some value I can almost taste it. If the odds go up on an away win I will be getting involved. Las Palmas v Levante is another game to be given a wide berth but I’m finding it very hard not to back Villarreal away against Bilbao. The head to head results for games away at Bilbao are enough to put me off that idea though. Scary.
My last bet of the weekend comes in the last game of the weekend and this one is a true value bet. I’m backing Real Betis to beat lowly Eibar in Monday nights game and the odds are lovely. I’m on at 2.88 with BetVictor but the market is competitive, be sure to shop around for the best odds.
