Tips Across Top European Weekend Matches

With the Italian Serie A having 2 weeks of break, our weekend top tips are coming from the English Premier League, the Spanish La Liga and the German Bundesliga. Let’s break down the most interesting matches and find the best value bets.

Liverpool vs. Manchester City (Premier League – Round 23)

The busy festive period of the Premier League has come to an end and gets back to its normal pattern starting next weekend. The Citizens look unstoppable being 15 points clear at the top of the table and the only unbeaten team this term. They have the best attack in the top-flight league with 64 goals scored in 22 fixtures and the best defense with just 13 goals conceded in the process. They will aim to extend their unbeaten run and increase their lead when they travel to Anfield on January 14.

Despite losing Philippe Coutinho in the January transfer window, Liverpool are likely to stick to their attacking style with Mo Salah being on fire, sitting 2nd in the EPL top scorers chart with 17 goals so far, being the biggest threat against any opposition. Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 17 games in all competitions, but it will be very tough for them to maintain this record when facing Man City. The odds for an away win are juicy, but we expect in thrilling encounter so we will skip the winners market. Best pick for the match: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at 1.7 with Coral.

Real Sociedad vs. Barcelona (La Liga – Round 19)

Leaders Barcelona face 12th-place Real Sociedad at Estadio Municipal on Sunday in what is expected to be one of the most thrilling matches of the round in the Spanish football. Barcelona haven’t won away at Real Sociedad since 2017 in La Liga, and they will enter this match full of confidence and determined to break the spell and finally win this away clash. If we are looking only at the home games, Real Sociedad have the 3rd-best attack in the league with 19 goals scored in 9 home matches, but it will be very tough to them to find the back of the net against the best defense in the league.

The leaders are the only unbeaten side this season, and we expect them to win this difficult away match. Barcelona have agreed a deal reportedly worth up to £142 m to transfer Liverpool’s playmaker Philippe Countinho, but he is ruled out of the game due to a minor injury. Best pick for the match: Barcelona to win and over 2.5 goals in the match at 1.87 with Ladbrokes.

Bayer Leverkusen vs. Bayern Munich (Bundesliga – Round 18)

The 2nd half of the season kicks off on Friday with the reigning champs and leaders Bayern Munich traveling to play 4th place Leverkusen trying to secure the 11-point gap at the top of the table. Leverkusen are another team that is still unbeaten at home scoring 17 goals in their 8 home fixtures.

The Bavarian team have improved immensely since sacking Carlo Ancelotti and replacing him with former treble-winning coach Jupp Heynckes. They should have enough to start the year with a victory and return home with the three points but given Leverkusen’s great home record we will focus on the goals market. Best pick for the match: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals with Coral.
