What are the hot tips and best match bets for the South Group clash in the T20 tournament?

Glamorgan vs Gloucestershire

Thursday 1 August 2019 at Sophia Gardens

These are two of the most unfashionable counties in Blast contention this summer but don’t be fooled by their small status. They both have the ability to pack a punch.

Indeed, Gloucestershire will probably rank as one of punters’ all-time favourite limited-over sides after they swept all before them in a trophy rush in the late 1990s. To this day they are routinely underrated when they come up against a team with bigger support, a bigger stadium or glitzier players.

This is an unusual situation for them then. They find themselves 1.69 (4/6 with Bet365). BetVictor are best at 2.4 (7/5) about Glamorgan.

Ordinarily we’d look to get with an outsider at that margin but it’s a tough ask for the Welsh county. They have suffered a horrible start, without a win in three and one washout. Against Surrey they were bowled out for just 44. They mustered only 136 against Middlesex. They were also set to be beaten by Gloucestershire who had them eight down and deep in the mire before the rain arrived to flush them out.

This flaky batting is a major surprise. The likes of Fakhar Zaman and Colin In-gram, as we said, pack power. Marchant de Lange and Graham Wagg are canny operators with the ball.

But it’s okay as there is value elsewhere, chiefly on the Glamorgan top-bat mar-ket. Ingram had a 45 per cent win rate on that market last year so Unibet’s 4.0 (3/1) is a price we can enjoy. In 2017 he copped 33 per cent of the time so the edge is clear.

Likewise we’ll get involved on the Gloucestershire market. Michael Klinger, their Mr Motivator, has a fine record. The Aussie opener has win rates of 27and 30 in the last two years so the 4.0 (3/1) that is offered by Coral, Ladbrokes and Unibet should be snaffled. One of those top-bat efforts came against Glamorgan last year when he blasted a bet-winning 77.

Best Bets:

Back Colin Ingram top Glamorgan runscorer 4.0 Unibet

Back Michael Klinger top Gloucestershire runscorer 4.0 Unibet
