Ed Hawkins (@cricketbetting) says big-game players could be to the fore in Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad v Kings XI
Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Monday 29 April, 15.30

It’s too early to talk about must-win matches but Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab will be feeling the heat for this one. Both have five wins but with a resurgent Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals on the same number of points, a slip here could see them more likely to battle to avoid a bottom-placed finish instead of a play-off berth.

Sunrisers and Kings both come into the game low on confidence. The hosts were awful against Rajasthan Royals in going down by seven wickets. Kings were stuffed by Royal Challengers Bangalore in a chase that they had pretty much controlled.

Inspiration has to come from somewhere. Sunrisers could well look to Rashid Khan for some magic. We might, too. Rashid, billed as the best spinner in the T20 world, has had a quiet tournament by his standards. And the fact that he has not been able to hit the heights explains a lot as to why Sunrisers, pre-tournament favourites don’t forget, have struggled for consistency.

It could be an illusion, of course. Just because Rashid is not taking a hatful of wickets does not mean he is not doing an excellent job. Indeed, he is perhaps a victim of his own success. He is remarkably consistent. Almost every game he produces the excellent where before, because of his Afghan background, it was seen as extraordinary.

This term he has 11 wickets and a strike rate, which is toppy for him, of 24. His economy rate of 6.27, however, suggests teams are just trying to see him off without actually getting after him.

But we fancy Kings might try to hit him off his line and length here, particularly if he opens the bowling against blitzers like KL Rahul and Chris Gayle.

Rashid is 12/1 (13.0) with Coral and Ladbrokes for man of the match. On a wicket which can be sluggish against batters who like to hit through the arc, Rashid is very much in the game here. Better still, the price is pure value. Rashid has a 12.6 per cent hit rate in the man of the match market in T20 leagues. This means he should be more like 7/1.

Another rick is the price of Gayle. He has a 15 per cent chance so Bet365 are taking a risk with their 8/1. If Gayle gets runs, the adjudicator is generally easily pleased. His force of personality is as important as the force of his bat.

Best tips for the match

Rashid Khan man of match 12/1 at Ladbrokes

Chris Gayle man of match 8/1 at Bet365
