Chennai Super Kings v Kings XI Punjab, MA Chidambarram Stadium

Saturday 6 April, 11.30

Chennai Super Kings lost their unbeaten record with a supine performance against Mumbai Indians last time out. They were never at the races and their effort in a chase would have been hugely disappointing to punters who had taken surprisingly big pre-toss prices.

Perhaps there was a weight of money which knew there was a problem in the camp or some such. They could only manage 133 in a chase of 171, a bizarre effort. MS Dhoni, usually the hero, plodded along taking 21 balls to score 12. That’s a strike rate of just 57. Suresh Raina was also on a go slow.

Confidence has taken a hit on them, then, against Kings XI particularly as Dwayne Bravo is out injured. This means they have another hole to plug for the death overs. Kiwi all-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn could get a game.

Kings are in hot form, winning three from four. Last time out they produced a stunning comeback against Delhi Capitals. Chris Gayle has handed them a fitness boost with the opener set to recover from a niggle.

Chennai are best at 8/11 (1.73) with William Hill while Kings are available at 6/5 (2.2) with Bet365, Betfair, Coral, Paddy Power and Ladbrokes.

Neither of those prices do much for us and, in truth, there’s not a huge amount of value around. Edges are in short supply. The one price we know to be a rick is the 4/1 (5.0) that Bet365, Betfair and Paddy Power offer about Ankit Rajpoot making top Kings bowler. We make him more like 16/5 (4.3) on hit rate.

Best tips for the match

Ankit Rajpoot top Kings bowler 4/1 Bet365, Betfair and Paddy Power

Sunrisers Hyderabad v Mumbai Indians, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium

Saturday 6 April, 15.30

Not much between these two according to the bookies. Sunrisers are rated at 4/5 with Bet365, Betfair, Betfred, Betway and Coral. Betfair go 21/20 about Mumbai with everyone else even money (2.0).

We can’t agree on those numbers. We have Sunrisers as the superior team, despite Mumbai getting a win under their belt last time out against Chennai. And you only need to read the above to see what we thought of that performance.

Sunrisers are going great guns. They have duffed up Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore after a defeat by Kolkata Knight Riders in the opener but there were mitigating circumstances – Andre Russell. His extreme hitting downed RCB on Friday night and Sunrisers will take comfort that he’s tucking into everyone else.

Last term Sunrisers won the series 2-0, unbelievably defending 118 and chasing 147 with a wicket to spare. They have the wood on Mumbai and there is a sense that they are a smarter unit in all departments with Mumbai a little fast and loose.

Best tips for the match

Sunrisers to win 4/5 Bet365, Betfair, Betfred, Betway, Coral
