What are the hot tips and best match bets for the third match of the T20 tournament?

Kent Spitfires vs Somerset

Saturday 20 July 2019 at the St Lawrence Ground

Kent and Somerset will consider themselves big candidates for T20 Blast glory this summer.

Last term Kent looked to be in the hunt for the title after a sec-ond-placed finish in South Group, only to get a beating from Lancashire in the quarter-final. Somerset powered their way to the top of that section with ten wins in 14 but lost their way in the semi-final versus Sussex.

The Spitfires are a well-balanced XI. Joe Denly and Daniel Bell-Drummond, both with impressive strike rates at the top of the order, provide the important flier. Heino Kuhn and Moham-mad Nabi have middle-order power and nous.

With the ball they are settled. Adam Milne, the Kiwi pacer, has been terrific for them and he returns for a third year while we love the variations and wizardy of spinner Imran Qayyum. Few sights excite us punters more than a spinner of mystery who can turn a match on its head quickly.

Somerset might be too one-dimensional with bat and ball. A sort of T20 version of the West Indies World Cup squad. They go hard with the bat and have excellent pace stocks. But do they have the smarts when things get tricky against the top teams?

The bookies are not concerned. They are rated 1.73 (8/11) jollies by William Hill. Kent are available at 2.25 (5/4) with Betfred, Coral and Ladbrokes. We’re inclined to believe that is

the value pre-toss because Kent have 11 wins in 13 on the head-to-head.

Post-toss it is a different story. There is a significant bias for the side batting first at this old venue with a 64 per cent win rate. That price on Kent might not hold if the flip goes their way.

A top-bat bet is the brilliant Babar Azam for Somerset. The Pa-kistan opener has a tremendous hit rate when playing for his country so when taking a step down in class it would be a sur-prise if he was not even more dangerous. Unibet offer 3.5 (5/2) and we’ll take it.

Best Bet

Back Babar Azam top Somerset bat 3.5 Unibet
