What are the hot tips and best match bets for the North Group clash in the T20 tournament?

Lancashire Lightning vs Nottinghamshire Outlaws

Saturday 3 August 2019 at Old Trafford Stadium

Lancashire are our picks for outright glory in this season’s Vitality Blast. They have made a cracking start with three wins out of three to go top of the North section before the Friday night games.

It will take some spectacular slowdown from such a fast start for them not to qualify for the knockouts, particularly as their balance appears bang on after key players returned from injury.

Liam Livingstone managed a comeback earlier from expected to bolster their bat-ting line-up. There was a slight worry that without Livingstone’s power in the opening berth they could be found wanting on occasion but those fears appear to be without foundation. It’s a very strong top five and our only concern is that Glenn Maxwell is being underused, slated as he is for No 4 at time. Get him in as soon as possible, although Steven Croft is no slouch.

Livingstone had a corker of a match against Worcestershire, the champions, last time out. He took three wickets to effectively end the match as a contest and then whipped off a chunk of the runs in a rain-affected match.

Saqib Mahmood, a tyro pacer, has also had strong performances after a niggle. Mahmood lives up to the Lancashire moniker and although he can be expensive he has kept his nerve at the death. Richard Gleeson and Matt Parkinson complete a dynamite bowling attack.

Nottinghamshire cannot same the same. They are a one-dimensional outfit who, admittedly, will often have too much batting power. But they can be flaky in the field. Witness their surprise defeat by Leicestershire last time out when they were caned to all parts in a reduced over contest.

With Lancashire no better than 1.8 (4/5) across the board and Notts 2.2 (6/5) the layers probably have this right.

For top-bat bets, Alex Hales has 33 and 40 per cent hit rates respectively in 2017 and 2018 for Notts while Livingstone is 33 and 42. Take Betfair’s 3.75 (11/4) about Hales and Ladbrokes’ 4.5 (7/2) about Livingstone.

Best Bets

Back Alex Hales top Outlaws bat 3.75 Betfair

Back Liam Livingstone top Lightning bat 4.5 Ladbrokes
