What are the hot tips and best match bets for the Roses clash in the T20 tournament?

Yorkshire Vikings vs Lancashire Lightning

Thursday 24 July 2019 at Headingley

Yorkshire and Lancashire will expect to be in the mix for T20 glory. Indeed, the Lightning are our tip to go all the way.

Although it is early days, it is the Red Rose which looks more fulsome. Lancashire were impressive in beating a hard-working Durham team in their first outing. Steven Croft and Glenn Maxwell were in brutal form with the bat as Lancashire amassed 189 for three.

They then bowled with smarts to take all ten Durham wickets for just 117. Richard Gleeson was the star of the bowling show. Unfortunately the game comes too quickly for Liam Liv-ingstone and Saqib Mahmood but boith should return to fit-ness well in time for an assault on the knockouts.

Yorkshire have one win, one defeat and a washout so far. They made a record score against Leicestershire – one of the weakest teams in the tournament – but what was more telling was how the Foxes managed to surpass 200 in their quest of 256.

They shouldn’t be going round the park against that outfit and they will be grateful that England World Cup winner Adil Rashid has been made available for selection.

Yorkshire have won seven of the last 16 head-to-heads so that doesn’t mean we will be swayed by the 1.91 (10/11) that Betfred, Coral and Ladbrokes offer. Lancashire look to be the value at 2.0 (evens) with Bet365 and William Hill, particularly if they bat first because there’s a toss bias at Headingley.

For tops bets, Alex Davies, the Lancashire opener, catches the eye. He had a 33 per cent win rate last year, narrowly beaten by Livingstone’s rate of 42. With the latter missing, Davies looks a touch at 4.33 (10/3) with William Hill.

There’s no statistical edge on the top Yorkshire bat but Nic Pooran, the West In-dies blaster, looks underrated by Bet365 at 6.5 (11/2). He batted at No 3 against Leicestershire and knows only one way to play – belt it.

Best Bets

Back Alex Davies top Lancashire bat 4.33 William Hill

Back Nic Pooran top Yorkshire bat 6.5 Bet365
