This weekend will be his toughest test to date when the Polish young-blood of the UFC faces Ovince Saint Preux.

Michal Oleksiejczuk (14-2-0) will be making his fourth UFC appearance in this weekend’s matchup; riding an 11-fight win streak. Remaining undefeated on the Polish regional scene since 2014 finally led Michal to the big stage. In 2017, Michal made his debut against Khali Rountree and has since defeated Gian Villante and Gadzhimurad Antigulov; both via first-round knockout.

Thunderstrike Fight League was the organisation in which Michal first found championship success. Remaining undefeated in Poland saw Michal win the TFL Light Heavyweight title on three occasions.

Michal is young in the game but continues to impress. Primarily, it was a concern that Michal had only fought in the Polish underground MMA orgs; now we’re three fights deep into his UFC contract in which he’s proved himself way beyond concern.

Fight Talk

Sleek striking combined with relentless aggression; Michal has dominated the majority of his matchups and with a highlight-reel performance in near enough every fight, it’s hard not to love this kids’ chances going forward with his career. At the tender age of 24, he’s racking up valuable experience in a long-lasting division.

‘Explosive’ would be an understatement if we highlight Michal’s approach. Knockout after knockout stamped on his professional record, his power should be a worry for any opponent.

Ovince St. Preux (OSP), is a problem for anybody in the Light Heavyweight division. Michal might struggle towards the end of the fight if unable to finish OSP, refusing to engage in reckless grappling exchanges late on in the fight should be Michal’s checklist. So long Michal can keep this one standing, he should be able to double the output of strikes that OSP will throw.

If the UFC wanted to put an up and coming youngster under the spotlight; OSP would be the perfect fit in an attempt to propel the stock of Michal. The gatekeeper role has been handed to OSP, a decline in performances leaves a good opportunity, Michal, to get himself in the top 15 rankings.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/pj1s0E9aAks\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen></iframe>"}[/]

The Outcome

To overlook OSP would be a foolish move but I feel like the youth and power of Michal will stack against the ageing veteran in this matchup. Hostile territory and a recent back to back losing streak won’t help the OSP cause either.

Michal will totally outclass OSP in the striking department. I don’t see many exchanges where OSP will come out the victor. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a vicious knockout, Michal is more than capable and OSP doesn’t have the speed to match the output of Michal.

Crisp counter-striking will showcase Michal’s skill-set. So long he doesn’t fall victim to any grappling, there’s only one fight prediction I’m confident in.

UFC Fight Night 160 Copenhagen takes place on Saturday 28th September live from Copenhagen, Denmark

UFC Fight Night 159 Prediction: Michal Oleksiejczuk @ [1.44] with Coral
