UFC 236 comes to the State Farm Arena, Atlanta this weekend for another action-packed fight card providing a great main event between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier. With the Interim Lightweight title on the line and the Middleweight Interim title on the line in the co-main event, It’s set out to be one entertaining show. Let's take a closer look at this week's notable underdogs.

The Dogs Odds

Alan Jouban (1.85 –17/20 @ William Hill) vs. Dwight Grant (1.95 – 19/20 @ William Hill)

In the Welterweight division, new blood Dwight Grant faces the UFC veteran Alan Jouban. Dwight actually opened up as a much larger price but quick thinkers gave the 2.40 opening price a slight hammering. I’m siding with those quick thinkers mentioned, after watching how hard Dwight can throw his strikes combined with Alan's lack of chin, I can see Grant winning this fight with another TKO victory added to his resume.

Alan Jouban has been around the block and faced some serious competition, a 7-4 record in the UFC it’s clear to see Alan can’t be overlooked with notable wins over Belal Muhammad and Mike Perry. Alan isn’t the youngest chicken in the coop, and coming off a long injury I feel it might be Dwight Grants time to shine.

I think Dwight Grant has a great chance to knock out Jouban, although Dwight lost to one of the lower level fighters in the division Zak Ottow… Dwight wasn’t given the type of fight he needs to succeed which would be a dog fight. Coming up against Jouban he should be gifted the exact type of fight to suit his style. Alan comes to fight, which will give Grant the counter striking opportunity he thrives on so much in his fights. I can’t seem to remember a fight Jouban was involved in where he didn’t get stunned by strikes, allowing this to happen against Dwight Grant will be Joubans downfall.

Alan Jouban vs Dwight Grant

Ovince Saint Preux (2.00 –1/1 @ Bet365) vs. Nikita Krylov (1.80 – 4/5 @ Bet365)

In the Light Heavyweight division, we have a rematch four years in the making when OSP goes up against Nikita Krylov.

Way back in 2014 OSP managed to finish Nikita in the first round with the ever so famous but also super rare von flu choke. It didn’t take OSP long as he ended the fight within 1:29 of the first-round handing Nikita his second UFC loss at the time.

Over the years Nikita has built his resume and certainly cemented his place on the UFC roster going 9-2 since his loss to Ovince inside and outside of the UFC. Nikita returned to the UFC in September 2018 after a four-fight win streak in the Fight Night Global organization. On his return, he suffered a submission loss to Jan Blachowicz and with Ovinces consistency on the mat, I can smell a similar outcome in this fight.

11-7 in the UFC isn’t the greatest record we’ve ever seen but one thing you can’t take from OSP is his consistent will to fight. Since his debut in 2013 OSP has been an active year in and year out, and his losses have come against serious contenders, no slouches involved.

OSP has been here before and won the fight quite easily, I don’t think Krylovs fighting style has changed much and the game plan for OSP should be pretty clear… Krylov is highly susceptible to getting submitted and if OSP can keep this fight on the mat then it could be another short night for Nikita and he might have caught some serious déjà vu.

Ovince Saint Preux vs Nikita Krylov

Since the first ‘Dogs and Their Odds’ article seven weeks ago we have managed to cash at least one underdog on every fight card. Hopefully, we can continue our run this week and potentially cash in twice and show the bookie whose boss.

UFC 236 will take place this Saturday night 13th April live from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

If you would like to check up on any underdogs or odds not mentioned in this article then click HERE.

For some of the best odds available at UFC 236 check out William Hill.
