One of the most anticipated fight card’s of the year is upon us, Jon Jones, Thiago Santos, Amanda Nunes, Ben Askren plus many more will be on show this weekend at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC 239 predictions are also upon us, and this week we have some plus money odds for you to feast on.

The Dogs Odds

Claudia Gadelha vs. Randa Markos

Brazil meets Iraq in the female Strawweight division when Claudia Gadelha matches up against Randa Markos on the preliminary card of UFC 239.

Former title contender and top 5 ranked female fighter Claudia Gadelha may have lacked that star potential in her recent fights but I’m still confused how so many fans are backing the #14 ranked Randa Markos in this spot.

I believe Claudia has lacked confidence and needs a convincing win to get herself back on track, we can’t forget that Claudia was viewed as one of the divisions best in recent years and Randa Markos hasn’t fared well versus the higher ranked opposition.

Both ladies have faced similar opponents, the difference being Randa has lost to Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Courtney Casey but Claudia defeated them both. Claudia has four losses on her record against the toughest fighters in the division and a fight against Randa is certainly a huge drop in competition as the rankings suggest.

Randa was able to run straight through Angela Hill, she will not have the same grappling advantage against Claudia. Claudia will dominate the grappling in all aspects and this will be her root to victory, constant pressure and control on the ground will be Claudia’s game plan which shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish. I don’t view Randa as a dangerous striker and usually give her the edge in fight’s where she is the stronger grappler, unfortunately for her, she’s not the more polished grappler and should fall short to a very strong and experienced Strawweight in Claudia Gadelha.

Some statistics below you may find interesting

Gadelha has never been finished

Gadelha has the advantage in all grappling statistics

Randa Markos has gone the distance 9 times in her previous 11 fights

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Claudia Gadelha came out firing in Round 1. True, Perez didn’t look like a world beater in his previous fight but Song Yadong is only 21 years of age and has never fought outside of China.

Bookmakers and fans are giving Perez no respect, Perez was on a 7-fight win streak prior to his close decision loss to Cody Stamann who is also one of the divisions best up and comers. I can’t ignore the price in this fight, just as I mentioned in last week’s article… Although Jussier Formiga ended up losing to Joseph Benavidez, the price and probability made no sense what so ever to back Joey B and the same goes for Song Yadong.

Perez has already proved himself in the Bantamweight division, both guys are well rounded and, in all honesty, the betting line should have opened at evens on both sides. They both possess some dangerous striking attributes but I’d give the grappling advantage to Perez.

Perez is a former Ultimate Fighter champion and has 7 wins under the UFC banner, I think he handles the explosive pressure Yadong implements in the majority of his fights. A few legs kick combined with his strong wrestling, Perez should be able to tire Yadong and take advantage in the second half of the fight once Yadong is gassed.

Some statistics below you may find interesting

Perez has gone to decision in 5 of his last 6 fights

Yadong is on a 6-fight winning streak

Best Bet for this fight: Alejandro Perez to win @ [2.88] [15/8] [+188] with Bet365

Bonus Tip: Pannie Kianzad to win @ [3.00] [2/1] [+200] with Bet365

UFC 239 will take place this Saturday night July 6th, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

If you would like to check up on any underdogs or odds not mentioned in this article then click HERE.
