Can we end the season on a high note with a tasty prediction?

Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs Arman Tsarukyan

Saturday 27th, July 2019

Season two has been a shamble in comparison to our first season of ‘The Punching Parlay’ but, after last week’s win, we can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Kicking off our weekly episode this time around will be the fresh-faced Russian of the UFC ‘Arman Tsarukyan’, unfortunately for him…his debut in the UFC came up against Islam Makhachev who ground Arman out to a decision victory. Makhachev is now a ranked fighter in the UFC so it just goes to show how high the level of competition Arman was facing in his UFC debut. Now we’re seeing Arman take a step down in competition when he faces Aubin-Mercier where I believe Arman can show UFC fans exactly what he’s made off.

‘The Canadian Gangster’ has taken quite a turn for the worse in his most recent fights where we’ve seen the Canadian native drop back to back losses against opponents bring in a similar style and fight base that Arman has.

Still ripe and untested amongst the UFC roster, Arman is now training with American Top Team and luckily for Arman, his main training partner for this fight camp has been none other than the champ

‘Dustin Poirier’. This type of experience and support will give Arman a huge confidence boost when fighting in the hostile territory this weekend in Canada and I expect the Russian to receive a huge amount of grief from the Canadian fans when he walks out with the W.

Aubin-Mercier is no slouch but fighting in his home country of Canada might affect him more than it will benefit. A two-fight losing streak can sometimes mean you’ll be fighting your last fight if you fail to impress if we combine this with the fact Aubin-Mercier has the pressure of winning in Canada… I worry for Aubin-Mercier that nerves will damage him and Arman will dominate. With the debut jitters behind him, Arman has the striking skill and aggression to get the job done against a declining Canadian with the weight of the world on his shoulders.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Arman Tsarukyan > Marcio Breno Rodriguez Braga - 1R RNC pic.twitter.com/Jyj65CHDvQ
— Jolassanda (@Jolassanda) August 8, 2017
"}[/]

Alexis Davis vs Viviane Araujo

Saturday 27th, July 2019

Yes, I’m fading two Canadians fighting in Canada for this week’s Punching Parlay. It’s not often we see many females in the UFC who can consistently knock their opponents out and with Araujo having the potential to be one of those few, I can’t ignore her this week against an ageing and worn-down version of Alexis Davis.

The 34year-old Alexis Davis has been holding it down in the UFC octogen since 2013 and has faced some of the sport’s greatest female athletes but with her recent record in the red, I think we might be watching Alexis in her final days as a serious UFC competitor. Each and every week we are gifted as martial artists put their health on the line to make a living and entertain fans but there comes a time when it’s apparent that a fighter has lost some of that original sass they first fought with.

Viviane Araujo made her UFC debut short notice against Talita Bernado and dished out a brutal knockout in the third round which is a rarity amongst the females involved in MMA. Amanda Nunes and Cyborg are the only females posing a serious threat of a knockout but Araujo has that Brazilian killer instinct that we see in her peers Nunes & Cyborg. Alexis walks through a lot of her opponents striking just for a clinch advantage, I do think she could land one or two takedowns but in a 15-minute fight against a girl so vicious as Araujo is… I expect we’ll see another knockout or at least a huge mismatch in the striking game that will give Araujo the edge.

Punching Parlay Wrap Up

· Arman Tsarukyan at [1.50] [1/2] [-200]

· Viviane Araujo at [1.40] [2/5] [-250]

Parlay/Accumulator Odds: [2.10] [11/10] [+110] with Bet365

Stake: £100

Returns: £210

Profit: £110

Current Parlay Bank: -5.95 Units/-5.95u

The Weekly Punching Parlay Season 2 Record: 2-7

Season One

Record: 10-0

End of Season 1 Profit: (£1154, 10.1 Units of Profit)

Starting Stake: £100 (1 Unit)

UFC 240 takes place on Saturday 27th July live from Rodgers Place in Edmonton, Canada Available on ESPN, UFC Fight Pass & BT Sports.

The Weekly Punching Parlay is documented and trackable through our fighting section on the Odds Market website.
