We’re back for another week of UFC underdogs, can ‘Dogs and Their Odds’ make another successful run at UFC 240 in Canada?

The Dogs Odds

Gavin Tucker vs Seung Woo Choi

UFC 240 takes place on Saturday 27th July live from Rodgers Place in Edmonton, Canada

Betting Tip: Seung Woo Choi to win at 2.10 with Coral

First, on my ‘dog and their odds’ hitlist, this week will be the Featherweight bout between Gavin Tucker and Seung Woo Choi.

It’s been just under two years since we last saw Tucker compete in Mixed Martial Arts combat where he took the first loss of his career in dramatic fashion. At any point during the third round of Tuckers last fight against Rick Glenn the referee could have intervened and stopped the fight, Tucker was totally outclassed on the feet and received a huge amount of strikes to the point where the fight was no longer necessary to continue.

After the majority of tough losses, we usually see fighters take a break but two years? I think this layoff might affect Tucker in the worst way considering he is now 33 years old with only 11 fights on his record… I think a lack of confidence and fight activity could seriously tarnish Tucker's chances of a successful victory this weekend.

Seung Woo Choi shouldn’t be overly displeased with his previous fight and first loss in the UFC when he stepped up against Movsar Evloev, we saw glimpses of how decent his striking is but Evloev was too much for him in the grappling department. It’s interesting to note that Choi is coming in with an 8.5 reach advantage which is huge and considering Choi should be the more technically profound striker of the two men, give any striker a reach advantage and it’s going to cause issues for anybody. Choi doesn’t struggle on the feet and after Rick Glenn’s dominance striking against Tucker, I just can’t see him coming in and beating the much larger man.

Choi is the younger, larger, faster guy between the two and should hold the confidence advantage coming into the fight on Saturday. The bookmaker is gifting us with the underdog money on Choi versus a fighter who we haven’t seen in two years, book it! The first underdog play of this week will be Seung Woo Choi who you can catch in action on the UFC fight pass prelims at UFC 240.

Some statistics below you may find interesting:

Tucker is returning after a 22-month layoff

Choi steps in with an 8.5 reach advantage

Tucker has never been finished inside the distances

Tip: Seung Woo Choi to win @ [2.10] [11/10] [+110] with Coral

Marc Andre Barriault vs Krzysztof Jotko

UFC 240 takes place on Saturday 27th July live from Rodgers Place in Edmonton, Canada

Betting Tip: Seung Woo Choi to win at 2.30 with Bet365

Next up we have the Middleweights taking up my interest in that underdog money. Jotko and Barriault will headline the UFC 240 Preliminary card and I’m loving the home town boy Barriault in this spot.

Krzysztof Jotko is lucky to still have a job, let’s be frank here. After a 3-fight losing kid, I feel like the UFC did Jotko favour in his previous bout by handing him a match to suit him stylistically. Now he’s facing a heavy hitter with more than enough ability to avoid the takedown pressure that Jotko will surely be trying to implement in his game plan. The game-plan for Jotko is clear, grapple and attempt to make this fight a long, gruelling, ugly style of fight and take a nod from the judges.

On the other side of the octogen facing Jotko will be UFC new-comer Marc Andre Barriault who notably is fighting in his own country of Canada. Barriault has that exact same knockout power that has put Jotko out in the past, Uriah Hall and Brad Tavares had no problem putting Jotkos lights out and I don’t see why Barriault can’t do the same in front of his home town crowd. Although Barriault came up short in his debut versus Andrew Sanchez, he was very close to landing that knockout blow and I’m not too sure Jotko can avoid these power punches for 15 minutes.

Jotko can only keep Barriault at the end of his length and jabs for so long before Barriault will find his way inside Jotkos range and lockdown another highlight-reel finish. Our second and final underdog of the week will be Marc Andre Barriault.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">TKO - Marc-André Barriault with nice walk off KO<a href=\"https://t.co/LPjIZy0BZ5\">pic.twitter.com/LPjIZy0BZ5</a></p>— Jolassanda (@Jolassanda) <a href=\"https://twitter.com/Jolassanda/status/850502095992229889?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 8, 2017</a></blockquote> <script async src=\"https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"></script>"}[/]

Some statistics below you may find interesting:

Barriault has never been finished

Jotko has the advantage in all grappling statistics

8/9 of Jotkos previous wins have come by decision

Prediction/Betting Tip: Marc Andre Barriault to win @ [2.30] [13/10] [+130] with Bet365

UFC 240 takes place on Saturday 27th July live from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Canada.
