Can we put an end to the bad streak the Punching Parlay is currently on?

‘The Punching Parlay’ S2.E8

UFC Sacramento

Urijah Faber vs Ricky Simon

Saturday 13th July at the Golden 1 Centre

UFC legend and Team Alpha Male gym owner ‘Urijah Faber’ makes his long-awaited return this weekend when he steps in the octogen for the first time since 2016. A business owner and martial arts icon, Faber must feel a void in his career which needs fulfilling because at age 40 it’s quite confusing as to why he thinks another run in the UFC will help him prosper.

Faber hasn’t fought in the ‘new school’ roster of the UFC and Ricky will be Faber’s first fight versus a young up and comer. Other than the home town advantage, I give Faber no leverage here, he losses this fight standing and on the mat.

Naturally, the UFC is always going to give their golden boys a high place on a fight night card but this could be one of the least exciting co-main events in recent time. Ricky Simon should easily dominate this fight and take a clear unanimous decision victory; Faber might be old but he’s certainly experienced and tough enough to avoid getting finished inside the distance here.

Urijah Faber started to show signs of slowing down 3 years ago, do we really think he can give Ricky Simon any problems on Saturday?... simple answer, no! He’s going to struggle big time and although

Ricky Simon to win by decision is a tempting prop, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Urijah Faber get finished inside the distance by ground and pound or a cheeky rear naked choke.

I’m surprised Faber accepted this fight and even more surprised he is returning; Ricky Simon will have his hand raised this Saturday and I haven’t been this confident in a fight pick for a while.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

What do you think of the ref's decision to give Ricky Simon a \"TKO\" win? #UFCAC pic.twitter.com/GEUWHZDQoO
— FloCombat (@FloCombat) 22 de abril de 2018
\n\n"}[/]

Julianna Pena vs Nicco Montano

Saturday 13th July at the Golden 1 Centre

It’s been a while, but finally, we see the return of Julianna Pena. Whilst taking time away from the UFC to become a mother, Pena has been hard at work in the gym preparing herself for another run at UFC gold. With only one loss in the UFC to current champion ‘Valentina Shevchenko’, Pena had found small success in the UFC with a 4-1 record before her time off from martial arts.

Grappling has always been a strong suit for Pena, in the majority of her fights she’s been able to out grapple and has the strength advantage against her opponents. Pena has been forgotten about and I think that’s why we are being gifted a fairly decent price on Pena @ 1.63, Nicco is current and punters will probably be tempted to side with the active fighter but experience, size and strength should be enough for Pena to get the job done.

Nicco Montano has one fight and one win in the UFC, she barely scraped a decision victory over Roxanne Modafferi in the ultimate fighter finale and we haven’t seen Montano since whilst Roxanne has had 3 fights and elevated her popularity in the UFC which is proof activity can sometimes outweigh past records.

Montano is also moving up a weight class and has been absent for over 19 months which isn’t that far from Pena’s layoff which has been 27 months. Montano might have the slight striking advantage in terms of output but for as much as she dishes out, she receives which is evident in her striking statistics. Montano lands 7.44 per minute but absorbs 5.28 which also might be a reflection of the lower level competition she has faced; I doubt she’ll be able to get inside Pena and land strikes with ease like in her previous fights.

The final leg of this weeks ’Punching Parlay’ will be Julianna Pena, not only do I think Pena takes the win but I also believe she’ll do it convincingly and take all 3 rounds or a late finish.

Punching Parlay Wrap Up

· Ricky Simon at [1.36] [4/11] [-275]

· Julianna Pena at [1.64] [16/25] [-156]

Parlay/Accumulator Odds: [2.23] [3/4] [+125] with William Hill

Stake: £300

Returns: £669

Profit: £369

Current Parlay Bank: -5.25 Units/-5.25u

The Weekly Punching Parlay Season 2 Record: 1-6

Season One

Record: 10-0

End of Season 1 Profit: (£1154, 10.1 Units of Profit)

Starting Stake: £100 (1 Unit)

UFC Sacramento takes place on Saturday 13th July at the Golden 1 Centre in Sacramento, California.
