The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) travels to Mexico this weekend; kicking off the preliminary undercard fights will be Claudio Puelles vs Marcos Mariano.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will be globe-trotting once again when they travel to Mexico City, Mexico for UFC Fight Night 159/ESPN+17. A third-round knee-bar gave Felipe Silva no choice but to tap-out.

Still very green for the UFC Lightweight division, I hope the matchmakers continue to give the young 23-year-old some lower-level competition similar to his opponent this week. I can’t visualise Claudio surviving at the top of the division with the savages but his Ju-Jitsu mastery should see him through the likes of Marcos Mariano.

Marcos Rosa Mariano

Age: 32
Record: 10-2-0
Height: 6ft 1”
Reach: 76”
Current Streak: 1 loss
Gym: Killer Bees
Notable Gym Members: Anderson Silva

Significant Strikes

Landed Per Min: 0.63
Accuracy: 33%
Defence: 50%

Grappling

Takedown Average: 0
Takedown Accuracy: 0%
Takedown Defended: 0%

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Vannata vs Mariano pic.twitter.com/27qPN7UPlD
— UFC Unwrapped (@UFCunwrapped) August 28, 2019
"}[/]

Marcos Mariano made his UFC debut earlier this year and came up short against Lando Vannata. It was an effortless attempt for Lando as he exposed Marcos in every aspect of the game. A beautiful Kimura submission from Lando ended the fight in the first round as we witnessed an absolute mismatch in competition.

I think any UFC calibre opponent will cause issues for Marcos. His regional venture prior to joining the UFC wasn’t the greatest and when he’s found himself on the right side a win, it’s been a low-level opponent. When up against Lando he looked like he’d never fought off his back, ever! It’s a hard fade for me in this spot.

At the end of the day

Marcos Mariano looks like an amateur on the ground. If the UFC is matching him up against a submission specialist in the form of Claudio Puelles, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out where the advantage lies.

The first UFC betting prediction will be Claudio Puelles as the first leg in our ‘Punching Parlay’ accumulator.

Accumulator betting tip part 1: Claudio Puelles [1.40] [2/5] @ Bet365

UFC Light Heavyweight Bout

Paul Craig vs Vinicius Moreira

UFC Fight Night 159 Mexico takes place on Saturday 21st September live from Mexico City Arena in Azcapotzalco, Mexico City, Mexico.

Paul Craig

Age: 30
Record: 11-4-0
Height: 6ft 3”
Reach: 76”
Current Streak: 1 loss
Gym: Scottish Hit Squad
Notable Gym Members: N/A

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": ""}[/]

Hailing from Scotland in the United Kingdom, UFC Light Heavyweight Paul Craig will step back into the octagon this weekend in Mexico and will be sure to put on a show. After 15 professional MMA fights, he’s gone the distance… well, at no time at all.

It has been the prettiest journey in the UFC for Craig, a (3-4) record isn’t the worst but it’s far from a fighter’s expectations on arrival to the biggest stage of them all.

Paul Craig was viciously knocked out by Alonzo Menifield around 9 weeks ago, I’m not sure that’s a long enough resting period for somebody to fully recover from such heavy blows to the head.

Vinicius Moreira

Age: 30
Record: 9-3-0
Height: 6ft 2”
Reach: 76”
Current Streak: 2 Losses
Gym: 5 Rounds Brazil
Notable Gym Members: N/A

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Menifield moves to 8-0!💪
🇺🇸 Alonzo Menifield def. That submission integrity continued as he submitted yet another victim, but this time in front Vinicius found himself fighting in front of Dana White.

Success didn’t last long for Vinicius when the UFC matched the ground specialist with two heavy-hitters. Alonzo Menifield and Eryk Anders both handed Vinicius a KO/TKO defeat within the first round.

12 professional fights and zero trips to the judge’s scorecards; combined with Paul Craig, we have a pretty large probability that this fight will not see the full three rounds.

At the end of the day

Between both fighter’s in this matchup, they’ve accumulated 27 professional fights. Not a single one of them have managed to end by decision. These two guys have a huge amount of submission wins/losses and I expect to see something similar in this fight.

Accumulator betting tip part 1: Moreira/Craig – Fight doesn’t go the distance [1.44] [43/100] @ Bet365

Punching Parlay Wrap Up

Puelles [1.40] [7/20]

Moreira/Craig Fight doesn’t go to a decision [1.44] [2/5]

Parlay/Accumulator Odds: [2.01] [1/1] with Bet365

Stake: £100
Returns: £200
Profit: £100
Current Bankroll: £599.00 (5.9 Units)
The Weekly Punching Parlay Season 3 Record: 5-2

Punching Parlay Extra

Jose Quinonez [1.67] [4/6]

Rodriguez/Stephens Fight doesn’t go to a decision [1.44] [2/5]

Parlay/Accumulator Odds: [2.42] [71/50] with Bet365
Stake: £100
Returns: £242
Profit: £142

Season One Record: 10-0
End of Season 1 Profit: (+10.1 Units of Profit)

Season Two Record: 3-7
End of Season 1 Profit: (-4.95 Units of Profit)

DaveBets Full Betting Card

The Weekly Punching Parlay is documented and trackable through our fighting section on the Odds Market website.

DaveBets on Twitter HERE
