Borussia Monchenghladbach vs Werder Bremen

Sunday, November 10, at Borussia-Park

Bundesliga leaders Borussia Monchengladbach host free-scoring Werder Bremen in what promises to be an entertaining game on Sunday. Marco Rose’s men have won seven of their 10 games so far this season and they hold a three-point lead over Dortmund at the top of the table. They have secured back-to-back league victories over Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen, and now they are bidding to make it three wins in a row. Yet they face a stubborn opponent in Werder Bremen, who come into this game on the back of five consecutive draws.

Team News

The greatest attribute of this Borussia Monchengladbach is their ability to spread the goals around. No fewer than 10 different players have found the back of the net for Die Fohlen this season, and we are only just into November. Forward Marco Thuram – a summer signing fro Guingamp – leads the way with five, and he was on target in their 2-1 win away at Bayer last weekend. Alassane Plea and Breel Embolo are both injured, so Patrick Herrmann has started alongside him up front. Captain Lars Stindl offers another option off the bench, while Matias Ginter has been a rock at the heart of the Borussia Monchenghladbach defence.

Werder Bremen are a fantastic team to watch. They love to commit men forward and that leaves gaps at the back for their opponents to exploit. Their greatest strength is a creative midfield featuring German prodigy Maximilian Eggestein, veteran Nuri Sahin and former Everton playmaker Davy Klaassen. Milot Rashica is their top scorer with four goals, while Klaassen and Yuya Osako have each chipped in with three. Left-back Ludwig Augustinsson, summer signing Niclas Fullkrug and midfielder Kevin Mohwald are all injured for Werder.

Betting Analysis

It is tempting to back a home win at 1.81 in this game as Gladbach have won seven of their 10 games and they are in superb form. However, they have only won three of their five home matches, and Werder are a tough nut to crack. The visitors are 12th in the table, but they have only lost three matches all season and just one of them was on the road. It seems better just to go for goals. Both teams to score has paid off in nine of Werder’s 10 games this season, and six of Gladbach’s 10. Werder games have seen an average of 3.8 goals – the second highest in the league – and Gladbach games see an average of 3.1.

Tip: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at 1.80 (4/5) with Boyle Sports
