This should be an entertaining clash...

Burnley vs Chelsea

Saturday, October 26, at Turf Moor

Chelsea face a stern test of their ability to seize a top four place this season when they visit Turf Moor on Saturday. Burnley were really unlucky to lose 2-1 away at high-flying Leicester last time out, but they remain eighth in the table after a strong start to the season. The Clarets have scored in eight of their nine games so far this season, and so have Chelsea, so we should be in for an entertaining game. Neither team is particularly solid at the back, as Chelsea have only kept two clean sheets this term and Burnley have three to their name, so this should be an afternoon for the forwards to relish.

Team News

Ashley Barnes has been Burnley’s most dangerous forward this season. He missed the trip to Leicester with an injury, but he should be back to partner in-form Chris Wood for the visit of Chelsea on Saturday. Johann Berg Gudmundsson remains a long-term injury, but Burnley manager Sean Dyche hopes to have Jack Cork back in time for this game. Nick Pope continues to keep Joe Hart out of the side, while James Tarkowski and Ben Mee will try to repel Chelsea’s exciting attack.

The Blues have won five games in a row in all competitions and they are playing with a great deal of swagger right now. They boast an excellent blend of youth and experience, and manager Frank Lampard has them playing ambitious, expansive football. Young trio Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Calum Hudson-Odoi lean the line along with veteran winger Willian, while full-backs Marcus Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta play alongside the less experience Fikayo Tomori and Kurt Zouma. N’Golo Kante missed the 1-0 win over Newcastle at the weekend, and Lampard will hope to have him back for this one.

Betting Analysis

It is hard to predict which was this one will go. Chelsea look the better team on paper and they are in great form, but Burnley are having a great season. They are extremely difficult to play against, as they pump ball after ball into the box for their powerful forwards to attack, and that could cause plenty of problems for Chelsea’s suspect centre-backs. The Blues also have a midweek Champions League game against Ajax to contend with, so fatigue could be an issue. It might pay to avoid the outrights and back the goals market instead.

Tip: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at 2.0 (evens) with Boyle Sports
