The Champions League isn’t often a fertile ground for value bets, mainly because the favourite wins most of the time and the focus on the competition is so intense that bookies can’t afford to be misinformed.

Every so often though, a few bets spring up that warrant some attention. I feel that’s happened this week and there are 3 bets over the 4 games that I feel are highly worthy of your attention.

Up first is the AS Roma v Shakhtar Donetsk match as the best of Ukraine travel to Italy to face a side that was in fine form at the start of the season. The form shown at the start has tailed off a bit though and although they are still a very good side they don’t look like they could steamroller this Shakhtar side that did so well in the first game.

I’m giving Shakhtar the edge in what I feel could be a very entertaining game. My selection is Shaktar Donetsk +0.5 in the Asian Handicap market and my choice of bookie is Pinnacle who have this at 2.29.

Game no.2 on Tuesday is Manchester United v Sevilla and this should be the perfect counterpoint to Tuesday's other game. While I expect the other match to be entertaining, I feel this could be hard going. I feel goals are more likely to come about through mistakes than sublime play.

I am going for Both Teams To Score in this one at evens with William Hill. I’ll be hoping Manchester United do not score first though, otherwise, this one will fall apart.

My third bet comes from Wednesday's game between Besiktas and Bayern Munich. Bayern are steamrollering the opposition in the Bundesliga and Besiktas aren’t doing too bad in the Süper Lig standings either (3 points behind Galatasaray).

I’m backing Bayern Munich to continue their fine form in this one and put in the kind of showing that makes others sit up. I’m not expecting 10-0 over two legs but perhaps not far off.

My selection is a bit more conservative as I’m going for Bayern Munich -1.5 at odds of 2.49 with Pinnacle. Besiktas have gone beyond their level of ability now and I think they will get punished.

If you like to see a one-sided game with very little competition, then this may be the match for you!

So, those are my thoughts for this week’s Champions League games. Let’s see how they come out.
