Dortmund look ready to end Bayern’s Bundesliga dominance

Dortmund vs Augsburg

Saturday, August 17, at Signal Iduna Park (Dortmund)

Last season Dortmund were so close to win the title and end Bayern’s stranglehold but due to their injury issues they failed to maintain the 9 points lead and finished the season 2nd in the standings. They kicked off their 2019/20 campaign with a superb 2-0 win over Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup and they look ready and determined to beat Augsburg on matchday 1. On the other side, Augsburg finished last season just 4 points above the danger zone and they are 3rd favourites to get relegated at the end of this term being priced at 3.0 with Bet365. They managed to beat Dortmund 2-1 last season on their turf but lost 4-3 at Signal Iduna Park. Once again, their main objective is to avoid relegation in their 9th consecutive top-flight league season.

Team News:

Dortmund were very active on the summer transfer window signing Julian Brandt from Bayern Leverkusen, Thorgan Hazard from Gladbach, Mats Hummels for Bayern Munich, Mateu Morey from Barcelona, Nico Schulz from Hoffenheim and most important making Paco Alcacer a permanent transfer after paying €23m to Barcelona. Hummels and Schulz are ready to fortify Dortmund’s defence, Brandt will definitely add some extra quality in the middle and Thorgan Hazard looks the perfect option to join Reus and Sancho and deliver some quality balls for the strikers Alcacer and Gotze. Augsburg most dangerous player Alfreð Finnbogason who missed 10 games last season is fully fit and together with Marco Richter who scored 3 goals this summer for the German U21 national team should have enough to help their side stay for one more season in Bundesliga.

Betting Analysis:

Dortmund are huge favourites to win in front of their fans being priced at 1.22 with Betfair. We also expect goals in this match with Dortmund having a great attacking firepower, with players able to score easily 3 goals on their own. Against Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup they scored 2 but they also failed to convert into goals 5-6 huge opportunities. One of the good tips for this match is to combine the “winners-market” with the “goals-market”. Dortmund to win and over 2.5 goals in the match is priced at 1.61 with Coral. We expect Dortmund to have an attacking approach and win this match from half-time.

Best tip for the match: Dortmund to win Half-Time/Full-Time at 1.68 with Unibet.
