No need to wait for Santa Clause, let’s bring home some early gifts in the form of winning units. The EFL Championship has another fixture list lined up for us.

Blackburn vs Derby

Saturday, December 7th at Ewood Park

Betting Tip: Blackburn win @ 2.00 [+100] with Unibet

It wasn’t so long ago when Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray and his squad were in need of a shape up. Well, Rovers fans can finally rest at night. A 3-game win streak has propelled them back into playoff contention just four points outside of a place. They’re also undefeated in 3 games at Ewood Park defeating a stiffer level of competition than what Derby brings to the table.

With the arrival of Wayne Rooney to Derby upon the club, it almost seems the pressure has effected or some may say “jinxed” the signing. Derby currently sits in 14th place with a 4 match losing streak whilst playing away from home. Sleighbells won’t be ringing this Saturday but, alarm bells certainly will be if Derby drops another 3 points.

A lack of goals away from home and an almost polar-opposite side when playing at home, Derby haven’t fixed their problems so far and I can’t see them making much difference at Ewood Park. Blackburn hasn’t been untouchable but, their home run speaks for itself.

Rubbing salt into the wounds of Derby, they hold a horrific record when playing at Ewood Park. Their previous 4 visits have seen 3 losses and 1 draw, with just one goal, scored. I’m not one for trends, but these statistics could be a concern when considering the current form of this Derby squad. Derby does maintain a record, the record for most goals conceded by a set-piece, expect Blackburn to seize their corner opportunities this weekend.

The bookmaker agrees but, they’re still giving us some juicy value on Blackburn, evens or above (plus money) is more than enough for me to fade this Derby team away from home.

Prediction/Tip: Blackburn win @ [2.00] [+100] with Unibet

Cardiff vs Barnsley

Saturday, December 7th at Cardiff City Stadium

Betting Tip: Cardiff win & under 4.5 goals @ 2.20 [+120] with Coral

This time last season, Cardiff were in the Premier League whilst Barnsley were in League one, two divisions separated the teams but now here we are. Barnsley may have made it into the Championship but, their run has shown the difference in quality. It’s been a struggle at all ends of the pitch for Barnsley and now they face a Cardiff team in need of a rise in the table.

Barnsley was on a 17 game winless streak up until their some-what, fluke victory against Hull last weekend. Whilst on their travels this week, I highly doubt we’ll see a similar result. 11 losses and 6 draws put Barnsley rock bottom of the English Championship, 16 away games played and not a single victory to their name. I’ll continue fading Barnsley until they give me a reason otherwise.

Cardiff can find themselves on a three-game win streak if they were to put Barnsley to bed this Saturday. Nothing spectacular, just a hard-fought 1-0 clean sheet victory will be enough for manager

Neil Harris. Cardiff has been keeping it tight recently, which has prevailed in the results. I expect we’ll see a similar approach here with an egoless team with nothing to prove but, points to be taken.

Since the arrival of Harris, Cardiff has picked up seven points from a possible nine, which has been their best run all term. It’s been evident thus far that Harris is the right man for the job. His emphasis on the attacking problems at Cardiff has made a significant impact. Now the offence is shining through and I think it was important to replace former manager Neil Warnock at this time before too many points were lost. Cardiff could have hope for the playoffs with the turnaround in results and shouldn’t be too worried about the worst-performing team in the league.

With a slate of mid-week games ahead of them, I don’t expect teams to be expending any unnecessary energy this weekend. To give ourselves some more value, lets hit the Cardiff win combined with the under betting market.

Prediction/Tip: Cardiff win & under 4.5 goals @ [2.20] [+120] with Coral

Football bets, tips & predictions

EFL Championship

Millwall vs Nottingham Forrest - draw @3.20 [+220] with Bet365

Leeds win & under 3.5 goals vs Huddersfield @ 2.15 [+115] with Betway

Hull win vs Stoke City @ 2.55 [+155] with Unibet

EPL

Crystal Palace DNB vs Watford @ 2.28 [+128] with Unibet

Wolves DNB vs Brighton @ 2.00 [+100] with Unibet

League 1

Sunderland win vs Gillingham @2.50 [+150] with Unibet
