The slate of mid-week games gave us an unusual amount of goals for EFL Championship standards, will we see the same again this Saturday?

Stoke City vs Leeds United

Saturday 24th August at The Bet365 Stadium

Stoke City manager Nathan Jones is slowly running out of excuses for his team. We’re now heading into the fifth fixture of the season and Stoke are rock bottom of the league with 1 point and the only record they’re winning right now is most goals conceded.

Worlds apart in terms of early success, Leeds United are in the first position and have conceded a mere 2 goals across four matches. The Leeds United defence continues to stay strong, whilst the Midfield has also played a defensive style, which is evident in the number of goals they have surrendered.

Stoke received a mid-week battering from Preston North End. I couldn’t even call this a tough game for Preston as they simply had to work as a team in order to defeat the senseless Stoke City squad who continue to appear disorientated as more games are played.

Leeds United held Brentford to a 1-0 win on Wednesday and looked solid as ever. It would be fair to say the North English side could have had at least two or three goals on the night with missed opportunities from Bamford on multiple occasions.

We have the #1 side versus the team currently sitting in the last place, I think it’s safe to say the value is with the away team in this fixture. If Leeds United want to be serious contenders for the title then it's away games against vulnerable teams that they will need to take three points from.

Betting Tip: 1u on Leeds Win @ [2.25] [5/4] [+125] with Coral

Fulham vs Nottingham Forrest

Saturday 24th August at The Bet365 Stadium

True Premiership quality springs to mind when discussing Fulham in the current Championship climate and as predicted in our Match-Day 4 predictions, the London side delivered Millwall their first loss of the season.

It’s slightly early, but if any team from the 24 sides registered in the Championship were claiming to be the strongest side then Fulham has a great argument for that title. Millwall looked strong up until their defence were facing Cavaleiro, Mitrovic, Arter and the other starting 8 who could all play a role

in the EPL. Speaking of Fulham’s impressive striker Cavaleiro, we are looking at the potential player of the year right now and with Mitrovic by his side… Fulham should easily be one of the highest-scoring teams this season.

Nottingham Forrest has had worse starts to the season. They’ve picked up 5 points so far and could have easily walked away with 3 points mid-week. They were unlucky on occasions, with a late foul in the penalty box causing players to point at the spot. In-what seemed to be a foul was waved on by the referee and although unfortunate, taking a point back home isn’t all that bad. They head back on the road Saturday with a trip to Craven Cottage coming up against a relentless Fulham squad.

Nothing fancy needed for this fixture, no deep analysis or overthinking shall be done. I think Fulham will continue their hot streak and we might see another high scoring affair considering Fulham have bagged eight goals across their last three games. Let’s add some value with the Win/Goal market, Fulham will win the weekends fixture and we will see over 1.5 goals.

Betting Tip: 1u on Fulham Win & Over 1.5 Goals @ [2.10] [11/10] [+110] with Coral

Preston vs Sheffield Wednesday

Saturday 24th August at Deepdale Stadium

They handed Stoke City another loss to their tally, but this weekend Preston will come up against a strong Sheffield Wednesday team who have looked like a team on a mission with something to prove. Preston manager Alex Neil should be delighted at taking three points against Stoke but I doubt we’ll see three goals from either side at the weekend. Preston showed scrappiness at times and quite possibly took advantage of a weakened Stoke City side more than actually giving us an amazing performance. Two of the three goals scored by Preston were goalkeeping or defensive errors that I don’t see Sheffield emulating.

Sheffield Wednesday have now won three and lost one, Millwall put a damper on them but they bounced back on Tuesday with a nice win over Luton which was the first win over them since 1992. (Flash Facts).

On the road, I think Wednesday can keep a much tighter game than Stoke managed to achieve. I don’t fancy picking a side in this one but the under is more than tempting. Between the two, they’ve conceded 7 goals across four games and inside the Deepdale stadium we’ve seen Preston concede just one goal. Under or nothing for me.

Betting Tip: 1u on Under 2.5 Goals @ [1.77] [77/100] [-130] with Marathon Bet

Other Bets (All 1u bets)

EPL

Villa/Everton Under 2.5 Goals @ 2.20 with Betfair

Norwich/Chelsea Both Score No Draw @ 2.20 with William Hill

Sheffield Utd Draw No Bet vs Leicester @ 2.55 with Marathon Bet

Liverpool/Arsenal Both Score No Draw @ 2.10 with William Hill

Championship

Charlton Draw No Bet vs Brentford @ 2.30 with Marathon Bet

Reading/Huddersfield Both Teams to Score @ 1.86 with Betfair

Swansea Win vs Birmingham @ 1.98 with Marathon Bet

English League One

Wycombe Win vs Southend @2.05 with Coral

Coventry Win vs Gillingham @ 2.05 with Blacktype

Lincoln Draw No Bet vs Doncaster @ 2.00 with Ladbrokes

Rochdale Draw No Bet vs Blackpool @ 2.05 with Marathon

Fleetwood Win vs Accrington @ 1.84 with Boyle Sports

Future Bet Addition’s

0.5u on Coventry City to gain promotion @ 8.00 with William Hill

1u on Coventry City to finish in the Top Six @ 3.50 with Coral
