Now that Norwich has the crown and Sheffield took second place automatic promotion, we are left with 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place teams battling it out for the one remaining promotion position which takes them onto the grandest stage of them all --- the English Premier League (EPL)

Playoff Semi-Final First Leg (Villa Park)

Aston Villa vs West Brom
Saturday, 11th May 12:30 pm (BST)

The same tears that flowed down the faces of Aston Villa players and fans alike in the playoff’s last season has been the fluids of motivation and success in the 18/19 season. Aston Villa proves again that they possess what it takes to be in the mix at top flight football, but standing in their way of a playoff finals spot is local enemies West Bromwich Albion.

In a battle of the West Midlands, Villa and Brom will run it back for another two games this season as each time will fight it out to qualify for the playoff finals versus either Derby County or Leeds United.

Current form for both sides has been quite the polar opposite in recent times. Until a defeat to number one spot Norwich, Villa was walking around with their chests popping out holding a 10-game undefeated streak which in-fact played a big part in the league position they ended up with. West Brom, on the other hand, has seen a defence which isn’t performing up to the standards it should be. It could be argued the defence of West Brom are Premier League calibre but in 2019 they have been giving fans closer to a league 1 performance towards the end of the season.

As a Coventry City fan, it’s hard for me to say this but… Villa has a squad full of players that are Premier League quality. The main man Jack Grealish returns after a rested game versus Norwich last week and will certainly give West Brom the worries they could do without, and inside Villa Park, it’s not going to be an easy task for the baggies.

Aston Villa WIN @ 1.95 – 19/20 with William Hill (1u)

Playoff Semi-Final First Leg (Pride Park)

Derby County vs Leeds United
Saturday, 11th May 17:15 pm (BST)

Derby county similar to their counterparts Aston Villa has managed to hit the perfect form at the perfect time, undefeated in their previous six games and racking up 25 goals in their previous nine games… Frank Lampard’s men are flying under the radar in these playoffs and have the potential and firepower to go all the way. If West Brom somehow to defeat Villa in the 12 pm game, I’ll sail on over to William Hill and be happy to place a wager on Derby County to take all.

The odds in this match suggest Leeds are favoured to win but I think the bookmaker is taking into account that Derby lost to Leeds twice during the season fixtures (2-0, 4-1). I’m not convinced that Leeds United are in a position to dominate Derby as they have previously and with some great value on the side of Derby, ignoring the draw no bet market at home would be silly. After an embarrassing defeat to bottom of the league Ipswich Town, it’s hard to see Leeds United beating Derby and then winning in the final as well, they have clearly been overworked and Marco Bielsa's style of managing may have worked well at times… his constant pressure and demands on his players has gone against his teams physical fitness in the long run.

Derby County Draw No Bet @ 2.10 – 11/10 with William Hill (1u)

Both Teams to Score @ 1.85 – 17/20 with William Hill (1u)

Some More Football Bets I’m On

English League One Playoffs

Sunderland vs Portsmouth – Both Teams to Score @ 1.85 – 17/20 with William Hill (1u)

Premier League

Liverpool vs Wolves – Liverpool to Score in Both Halves @ 2.05 – 21/20 with William Hill (0.5u)

Round-Up

Aston Villa WIN @ 1.95 – 19/20 with William Hill (1u)

Derby County Draw No Bet @ 2.10 – 11/10 with William Hill (1u)

Derby/Leeds - Both Teams to Score @ 1.85 – 17/20 with William Hill (1u)

Full odds for this week’s English Championship Games available HERE

Some of the Best Odds for this week’s Championship games available @ William Hill

Follow Dave Bets on Twitter HERE
