<p>Former French international footballer and president of UEFA Michel Platini was released by police in the early hours of Wednesday 19th June. He had been detained on Tuesday in a Western Suburb of Paris and questioned over corruption charges, the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar, PSG and FIFA.<br /><br />A statement from Platini read: "It was long, but given the number of questions it could not be different" ending on a positive note he said, “But after all, they did their job and then we tried to answer all the questions.” </p><p>Whether the 2020 World Cup will still be held in Qatar remains to be seen. <strong><a href="" target="_blank" title="Former UEFA President is released after alleged corruption charges">Read More</a></strong></p>
