RB Leipzig are on fire!

Fortuna Dusseldorf vs RB Leipzig

Saturday, December 14, at Esprit Arena

RB Leipzig will bid to extend their five-game winning streak when they travel to the Esprit Arena to face Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday. They are second in the table, just one point behind leaders Borussia Monchengladbach, and they look like serious title contenders. Bayern Munich are wobbling and Leipzig look well placed to fill the void. They are playing in the style you would expect from a Julian Nagelsmann side – conceded plenty of goals, but scoring even more – and it has paid dividends so far. The relegation threatened hosts have lost eight of 14 games this season, and an away win looks likely on Saturday.

Team News

Rouwen Hennings has been the star of the show for Fortuna Dusseldorf this season. The veteran centre-forward has banged in 10 goals in 14 games, and the rest of the squad have managed just six between them. However, Hennings was powerless to stop his team suffering a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Borussia Dortmund at the weekend. That does not bode well for the visit of RB Leipzig. Dusseldorf are without Kevin Stoger and Kenan Karaman, who are both injured.

Leipzig threw away a two-goal lead as they drew 2-2 with Lyon in France on Tuesday night. Star men Emil Forsberg and Timo Werner handed them a comfortable lead, but defensive frailties proved their undoing. Yet they still finished top of their group and they are heading into the last 16 of the Champions League. They have been sensational in their domestic league. They beat Mainz 8-0, Hertha Berlin 4-2, Koln 4-1, Paderborn 3-2 and Hoffenheim 3-1 in their last five games to announce themselves as credible title challengers. Captain Willi Orban and Ibrahima Konate are injured, leaving Dayot Upemecano and Lukas Klostermann to fill in at centre-back. Klostermann is more comfortable at full-back, and that has left Leipzig a little exposed in defence, but they have been utterly devastating going forwards.

Betting Analysis

It is hard to look past a Leipzig win in this game. Their form has been tremendous, while Dusseldorf could be low on confidence after that 5-0 thrashing against Dortmund. You can find around 1.44 to 1.48 on an away win, and that looks good for an accumulator. You could also try combining it with a goals market for more value. Leipzig have only kept three clean sheets this season, but they have scored in every single game, and their matches see an average of 3.93 goals. Dusseldorf’s see an average of 3.21 goals.

Tip: RB Leipzig to win and over 2.5 goals at 1.95 (19/20) with Coral
