Time for Getafe to grab their first win of the season...

Getafe vs Mallorca

Sunday, September 22, at Colisem Alfonso Perez

Getafe will bid for their first win of the season when they host newly promoted Mallorca at Colisem Alfonso Perez on Sunday. José Bordalas’ men finished fifth last season and came within a whisker of securing Champions League qualification for the first time, but they have made a sluggish start to the new campaign. They lost their opening game to 1-0 to Atletico Madrid, and they have since drawn with Athletic Bilbao, Alaves and Real Betis. They are stubborn at the back, but they are in the relegation zone and they need a win to climb the table.

Team News

Getafe take on Trabzonspor for a midweek Europa League clash and Bordalas may have to shuffle his pack to keep them fresh for this game. Jaime Mata has been playing well and he was on target in an impressive 1-1 draw away at a strong Real Betis side last time out. A backline of Allan Nyom, Leandro Cabrera, Djene and Damian Suarez looks pretty solid, but they need to cut out the individual errors.

Mallorca spent just €7 million in bolstering their squad this summer after they were promoted to the top flight. Ante Budimir has gone straight in as their first choice striker, while Martin Valjent has slotted into the defence alongside Antonio Raillo. Yet it is mainly the group of players that finished fifth in Segunda Division last season before scraping through in the plauyoffs.

Betting Analysis

Mallorca’s greatest chance of beating the drop this season lies in turning Iberostar Stadium into a fortress. Teams have to fly south to the island to face Mallorca, and it has never been an easy place to visit. They have already played three home games so far this season and picked up four points, which is a decent return. Mallorca have played just one away game so far and it resulted in a 2-0 defeat against Valencia. They are likely to struggle on the road in 2019/20 and that gives Getafe a great opportunity to seize a precious victory on Sunday.

Tip: Getafe to win at 1.85 (17/20) with Ladbrokes
