Barcelona have been on a rough run recently and have lost the aura of invincibility that seemed to follow them round in previous seasons. Real Madrid have grown under Zinedine Zidane (a coach I had my doubts about) and are currently unbeaten and six points ahead of their closest rivals at the top of the league.

Real Madrid have not beaten Barcelona in the league in their last 8 attempts so I’m not hugely surprised to see them at odds around 4.1 to win this one. Combine that recent record with the absence of Gareth Bale and you can see why Barcelona are favourites. I’m against that and looking to back the home team in this one. Pinnacle are offering 1.88 for the home win but I‘d hold off betting as I think those prices will rise as we get closer to the match.

There are other matches I’m looking at this weekend and although Atletico Madrid have very low odds for a home win against Espanyol, I’m happy to take the 1.24 on offer (Pinnacle) as I still think there’s value there (a touch). For those that want to go for longer odds, I also believe that the odds on the draw hold some value at 6.5 with Bet365.

You have to go back to 2013 for the last Espanyol win against Aletico but there have been a couple of draws since then, including the last match between these two.

Sunday and Monday both hold some interest for me and this time we’re staying away from the very strong favourites.

The 2 matches I’m keeping an eye on are the match between Real Betis and Celta Vigo and Valencia v Malaga. On both occasions I’m looking for home wins and the odds of 2.43 (Pinnacle) for Betis are particularly tempting. I have a feeling those odds will drop as we get closer to the match so it might be worth getting on early.

There are lower odds on a Valencia win and about the best you can get is 1.81 with both Pinnacle and SBOBet. There are fairly decent odds on Both Teams To Score as well so although that isn’t one of my advised bets, it is something I’m keeping an eye on.

There is just the one game on Monday and right now the odds are excellent. Real Sociedad might be the away side but at 2.8 with William Hill they offer excellent value against a Deportivo La Coruna team that seems to have forgotten how to win. This time I won’t be waiting for better odds as I don’t think we’re going to get better than that.
