A grueling schedule in La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga has forced teams to play three games this week, culminating in this weekend’s round of fixtures. Plenty went to script in midweek, but there were surprise defeats for the likes of Real Madrid. Here we offer an overview of each of these top European leagues and the best value bets available:

La Liga Barcelona extended their lead at the top of the table by beating Eibar 6-1 in midweek. They have a 100% record in all competitions this season and should blow away newly promoted Girona and assert their superiority over their fellow Catalans. Barcelona -1.75 Asian handicap is 1.86 with 188Bet. Two form teams meet when fifth-placed Real Sociedad host fourth-placed Valencia, and both teams to score looks a good option here at 1.61 with 10Bet. Malaga has been having a horrible time of it and are rock bottom with zero points. They host an Athletic Bilbao side that could do with a win to reignite their season after s defeat against Atletico Madrid last time out. Athletic Bilbao draw no bet looks good in this game at 1.80 with Marathon Bet. Real suffered a shock defeat to Betis to fall further behind in the title race and you can expect them to take out their wrath on Alaves, another team yet to record a point this season. Real -1.75 Asian handicap is 1.70 with 188Bet.

Serie A Thrashings are becoming commonplace in Serie A when newly promoted teams meet the big boys, and you can expect another when free-scoring Napoli travel to Spal. Napoli are top of the table with a perfect 15 points from five games and a +16 goal difference. Spal come into the game on the back of three consecutive 2-0 defeats, and once again that -1.75 Asian handicap looks tempting, this time at odds of 2.00 with Paddy Power. High-flying Interface struggling Genoa in what should prove another mismatch, and they could make a good double with Napoli. For outright betting, handicap has to be the way forward once again and Inter -1.25 is 1.68 at Marathon. Sampdoria are unbeaten in five games but will be disappointed at their failure to beat newly promoted Verona last time out. They host an in-form AC Milan side benefiting from huge investment in the summer transfer window. The odds on an outright win for the away side look really attractive here as they are 2.10 with Sportingbet. The odds have been drifting, so it might be worth holding out for a little while before backing them. Champions Juventus face local rivals Torino at home and will have a tough time of it. Torino are in excellent form, unbeaten this season and very solid defensively. Juve should win, but odds of 1.44 are not very attractive, while handicap betting seems too risky.

Bundesliga Borussia Dortmund were sensational in midweek as they tore Hamburg apart, with Christian Pulisic, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Shinji Kagawa on fire. Peter Bosz has an exciting young team and they should be good for a top-two finish this season. They currently top the table and should beat Borussia Monchengladbach at home.

Dortmund to win and over 2.5 goals is 1.80 and that looks interesting, as does the 1.50 on Aubameyang to score at any time. Newly promoted Hannover are unbeaten this season and fourth in the table, so they will be full of confidence ahead of a visit from bottom club Koln, who are yet to notch up a single point this campaign. Hannover are 2.00 with Bet Victor, Betway and Bet Stars, and that looks highly tempting. RB Leipzig, last season’s runners-up, are in a poor patch of form and are due to a win, so their home game against an inconsistent Eintracht Frankfurt side looks like a great opportunity to get their season back on track. They are 1.74 with Marathon Bet.
