Leicester City vs Liverpool

Thursday, 26th December at King Power Stadium

Leicester City

It was last season’s Premier League Champions last week and next up is this seasons runaway leaders Liverpool. This is by far the most intriguing game of the holiday period. Brendan Rodgers has a well-balanced team and squad that have that little bit extra in the opponents final third. Jamie Vardy is the Premier Leagues current top scorer with 17. James Maddison is growing all the time with his vision and execution of a pass. Maddison is also right on the money from dead ball situations. The Foxes have a solid midfield that are happy to win it then give it. The defence tend to sit quite deep as pace is not a luxury afforded to the central defenders. Ben Chilwell carries a decent threat in the final third through his engine helping him to get up and down for the full 90 minutes. Youri Tielemans is a Belgian international midfielder who has a top class brain and feet to match. The whole group are playing right on top of their game at present and are more than a match for anyone at the King Power.

KEY Strengths: Vardy’s goals, Maddison’s creativity, Organization.

KEY Weakness: Over Committing, 1v1 in their own final third.

Liverpool

Liverpool sit 10 points clear of Leicester City in the Premier League. Last week Jurgen Klopp’s men were picking up the World Club Championship in Doha. The whole squad are now playing on a completely different level to the ones that helped them win the Champions League last season. Sadio Mane Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino must scare the life out of most defenders in World football. The Premier League leaders also have the likes of Alex Oxlade- Chamberlain Adam Lallana and Divock Origi to fall back on if one of the first choice stars are having an off day. With Virgil van Dijk in the centre of defence and Alisson in goal the weakest part in this absolute power house of a starting XI is the centre of midfield. Maybe the busy schedule could catch up with this group but at the minute they are rotating and taking all before them. .

KEY Strengths: Goals, Movement, Confidence

KEY Weakness: Midfield Creativity.

Betting Analysis

A very tight game with the pressure firmly on the home side to go and win it. I don’t think Rodger’s will send his side out to go gun ho as that will play right into the League leaders hands. With so much firepower on display I just wonder if this game will end up being a very cautious one with a lot of respect shown from both parties. The value is all with going against the obvious of goals.

Best Tips:

Draw @3.78 with Pinnacle

Under 2.5 goals @2.15 with Bet365
