Real Madrid should be too strong for Mallorca...

Mallorca vs Real Madrid

Saturday, October 19, at Iberostar Stadium

Mallorca are the outright favourites to be relegated from La Liga Primera this season after enduring a shaky start to the life in the top flight. They are terrible on the road, but they have done reasonably well at home, with two wins, one draw and two defeats at Iberostar. However, they are unlikely to repel the potent attack of league leaders Real Madrid, who are unbeaten thus far in the 2019/20 season. This really should result in an away win, as Los Blancos are vastly superior in every department.

Team News

Mallorca went with a classic 4-2-3-1 formation in their 2-0 home win against Espanyol before the international break. Croatian forward Ante Budimir is tasked with leading the line, and he was on target that day, along with midfielder Salva Sevilla. Mallorca’s home games have been low scoring, as they have found the back of the net four times and conceded four times in five matches. Martin Valjent and Antonio Raillo looked solid against Espanyol, but they will be dealing with a huge step up in quality when they face Real Madrid.

Thibaut Courtois is back for Real Madrid after suffering with gastroenteritis, although it will be interesting to see if Alphonse Areola keeps his place in the side. Ferland Mendy is out, but Marcelo should be back in time for this match. Toni Kroos is out with a groin strain, so manager Zinedine Zidane will hope to see Luka Modric recover from a knock he picked up on international duty with Croatia. He could slot into midfield alongside Casemiro, with James Rodriguez playing behind Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale on the flanks.

Betting Analysis

This looks like a real mismatch in terms of quality. Mallorca have been reasonably good at home, but they lost 2-0 to Atletico Madrid here recently, and Real Madrid have the quality to pull off a similar result. They have kept three clean sheets in their last four games, and Mallorca are pretty goal shy, so a low-scoring Real Madrid victory looks likely in this match.

Tip: Real Madrid to win and under 4.5 goals at 1.91 (10/11) with Coral
