Man City vs Chelsea

Saturday 23rd November at The Etihad

Man City:

Beware the wounded animal. The Premier League champions feel hard done by the 3-1 defeat away at Liverpool last time out. Sergio Aguero has nine goals in eleven games and a rested Raheem Stirling is also on top of his game at present. Kevin de Bruyne executes his passes on a tramline to any of his teammates anywhere on the pitch. Bernado Silva has chipped in with five goals and two assists so far this season. Although Manchester City have lost three times already this season but they are still the ones to be above come next May. Pep Guardiola continues to encourage his players to play out from the back even though it has cost them points at times. This weekend the visitors Chelsea are arguably the most dangerous team apart from Liverpool in the Premier League. With a win City will leap frog the Blues in the table and set about eating into the Champions League winners lead.

KEY Strengths: Goals from anyone, Creativity from anywhere. Pace

KEY Weakness: Defence on counter. Playing out from the back.

Chelsea:

Six wins in a row and 27 goals so far in the Premier League must have Frank Lampard sleeping like a baby. The Blues are playing free flowing football with a mixture of flair and discipline. Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount are massive positives to emerge this season culminating in England senior honours. Ngolo Kante and Mateo Kovacic are marshaling the troops well. Marking at set pieces still leaves a lot to be desired. Chelsea have goals everywhere you look and a recent away hat trick by Christian Pulisic announced him on the Premier League stage. The big question is weather Lampard will get his side to play there normal game or be a little patient and wait for the right opportunities to arise.

KEY Strengths: Goals and creating chances, Midfield energy

KEY Weakness: Naivety of over confidence, Defending set pieces.

Betting Analysis:

With both these teams loving to go forward and create, goals must be on the cards. I worry for Chelsea if they open up early and try and play their normal game. Man City must get back to winning ways or the Premier League title may be gone for the season. The end to end games we have seen Chelsea involved in so far this season will surely lead to a home win that could get ugly. I expect a ruthless display from Pep’s men that will not stop if they get in front early. Aguero and Sterling scoring anytime is a distinct possibility.

TIPS: Man City to win and over 2.5 goals @1.8, Man City -1.75 (AH) @2.43
