No slip ups for City in pursuit of Liverpool

Newcastle vs Man City

Saturday 30th November at St James’ Park

Newcastle

Newcastle come into this game on the back of a dismal performance away at Aston Villa. The Magpies are a strange side. A recent 3-2 win away at West Ham indicated a corner was being turned by Steve Bruce’s men. The home side then went to Villa Park for the monday night game and were less than adequate. Newcastle have been all about keeping games tight and not going behind. With an average of less than a goal a game, the manager must adjust the balance of defence and attack. Currently the physiotherapy room is busy with many regular 1st team players receiving treatment. At home the passionate Geordie crowd can play their part if the stage is not to big for some of these lesser known players of the Premier League. This weekend will be a massive test and chance for the fringe players to remind the manager of their worth.

KEY Strengths: Organization and 52,000 crowd

KEY Weakness: Scoring less than a goal a game, injuries to Key players.

Man City

The current Premier League Champions travel to the North East after a below average show in the Champions League. Sergio Aguero is nursing a knock and is doubtful. Pep Guardiola has so much talent in his squad that even without a Premiership legend he will expect to pick up all three points. Keep ball and patience will be the key as in past encounters with Newcastle the home side have sat back and tried to make it tough. When you have Kevin De Bruyne and Bernado Silva moving the ball around the pitch, chances will come at some stage. Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus look to be the main goal threat with pace and a supply chain out of the top draw from inventive midfielders.

KEY Strengths: Pace, Passing and individual Brilliance

KEY Weakness: Defending 1v1 and over committing in attack

Betting Analysis

When Man City come to town you cannot throw caution to the wind and attack from the outset. Past games have been tight and I expect this to be the same early on. The undoubted quality of the current champions will shine through. Newcastle have injury problems to key personnel so will have to set up defensively and try and grow into the game. I see a City win but not a thrashing.

Best Bet: Man City & Under 3.5 goals @ 2.25 with Bet365
