Time for Oyarzabal and Odegaard to shine...

Osasuna vs Real Sociedad

Sunday, December 22, at El Sadar

Real Sociedad will aim to reignite their bid for a top four place when they travel to El Sadar to face Osasuna on Sunday. Imanol Alguacil’s men battled to a 2-2 draw against league leaders Barcelona on Saturday, and they drew 0-0 away at Valladolid in their previous match. Yet they remain just two points behind fourth placed Getafe and they look like genuine challengers for a Champions League spot this season. Newly promoted Osasuna slipped down to ninth in the table after a 2-2 defeat at Atletico Madrid last time, and they have a poor record against Real Sociedad.

Team News

Goalkeepers Ruben Martinez and Juan Perez are both injured for Osasuna, leaving Sergio Herrera to hold the fort. Osasuna spent around €15 million on bolstering their squad after securing promotion to La Liga in the summer, and their two biggest signings have been hugely successful. Chimy Avila has six goals and two assists so far, while Ruben Garcia has five goals an assist to his name. Roberto Torres has also proved effective on the right flank. Forward Marc Cardona is out at the moment, as is right-back Nacho Vidal.

The stars of the season for Real Sociedad are Mikel Oyarzabal and Martin Odegaard. The former was on target in their impressive 2-2 draw against the mighty Barcelona at the weekend and his value continues to soar, while the latter has dazzled with the ball at his feet. Odegaard is on loan from Real Madrid and on this evidence he could well break into their first team next season. Summer signings Alexander Isak and Portu have been in good form, while former Arsenal man Nacho Monreal has slotted in nicely at right-back. Captain Asier Illarramendi is missing with injury, but otherwise they have a pretty clean bill of health.

Betting Analysis

Real Sociedad beat Osasuna home and away in the 2017/18 season and they should not fear the newly promoted side. They have not lost at El Sadar since 2012 and their recent form has been impressive. Real Sociedad have the fourth best away record in the league, thanks largely to the creativity of Oyarzabal and Odegaard, so they will be difficult to contain on Sunday.

Tip: Real Sociedad draw no bet at 1.88 (22/25) with Unibet
