Valencia should get a result on Sunday...

They led for the majority of the game, but defender Mouctar Diakhaby was sent off with six minutes left of normal time, and they just could not hang on. Yet there are significant signs of improvement under new manager Albert Celades, and they should be able to get a result at Osasuna on Sunday. Los Rojillos are unbeaten at home this season, but Valencia are the sort of team that could end that record.

Team News

Osasuna had Fran Merida sent off in the 93rd minute during their 1-0 defeat away at Granada on Friday, so he will be suspended. Key midfielder Ruben Garcia is also out injured. Osasuna do not score many goals and their top scorers this season are Roberto Torres and Chimy Avila, with two apiece. Yet Facundo Roncaglia keeps things pretty tight at the back. Defenders Unai Garcia and David Garcia are injured, so Aridane Hernández has partnered him at the heart of the defence.

A number of key players are starting to return for Valencia. Holding midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia and forward Kevin Gameiro are both back from injury, and they started against Lille in midweek. Carlos Soler, Jose Gaya and Ferran Torres were also fit enough for the bench, and Soler came on as a substitute. Striker Rodrigo missed the game, but he is on the brink of a return. Diakhaby may continue alongside Gabriel in defence, or Celades could turn to Ezequiel Garay.

Betting Analysis

Osasuna have won one and drawn three of their four home games this season. Betting against them looks risky, but Valencia have been strong in recent weeks. In their last away game they travelled to Wanda Metropolitano Stadium – a fiendishly difficult place to visit – and picked up a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid. In their previous away game they took on Athletic Bilbao, who had been invincible at home, and beat them 1-0. They are unbeaten domestically under Celades since his first game in charge, which saw them lose to Barcelona, and they will not fear Osasuna on Sunday.

Tip: Valencia draw no bet at 1.87 (20/23) with Boyle Sports
