Betis can take all three points if they sort out their defensive problems...

Real Betis vs Getafe

Sunday, September 15, at Benito Villamarin

Real Betis look really strong in attack this season and they will fancy their chances of unlocking a slightly leaky Getafe defence on Sunday. Fans were fuelled with optimism ahead of the new campaign after the club bought Nabil Fekir and Borja Iglesias in the summer. That more than made up for the loss of playmaker Giovani Lo Celso, and Betis have looked good going forwards this season. However, they have really struggled defensively, conceding eight goals in their opening three games. They will need to tighten up at the back if they are to see off a dogged Getafe side.

Team News

Goalkeeper Joel Robles was sent off in the eight minute of Betis’ opener against Valladolid and they ended up slumping to a surprise 2-1 defeat. He was sorely missed in their next match, a 5-2 drubbing at the hands of Barcelona. Iglesias also went down with an injury in that game against Valladolid, and he has not played since. Yet Betis finally picked up their first win of the season when they beat Leganes 2-1 last time out. Lorenzo Garcia, in for the injured Iglesias, was on target and Fekir banged in the winner. Iglesias is now nearing a return and it will be interesting to see if Rubi reinstates him or keeps faith in Garcia.

Getafe were the surprise package in La Liga last season and they did really well to finish fifth, five places and nine points above Betis. However, they did not spend big in the summer transfer market and they have made a stuttering start to the current campaign. They lost 1-0 away at 10-man Atletico Madrid in their opener, and they have since drawn 1-1 with Athletic Bilbao and with Alaves. They are reasonably solid at the back, but they allow too many chances, and forwards Jaime Mata and Jorge Vidal need more help up front.

Betting Analysis

Betis have scored and conceded in all three games so far this season. Getafe are also yet to keep a clean sheet, and they have scored against every team apart from the mighty Atletico. That makes both teams to score an appealing bet in this game. Getafe beat Betis home and away last season, so that should give them confidence ahead of this game, but Betis look stronger this time around, while Getafe appear to have regressed slightly.

Tips: Real Betis to win at 2.20 (6/5), both teams to score at 2.00 (evens) or Betis to win and both teams to score at 5.00 (4/1) with William Hill
