Betis are lumbered with a horrendous defensive record...

Real Madrid vs Real Betis

Saturday, November 2, at the Bernebeu

Real Madrid climbed up to second in the table with an emphatic 5-0 victory against Leganes on Wednesday evening. It was a morale-boosting return to form for a team that lost their previous game 1-0 against Mallorca after having Alvaro Odriozola sent off. Los Blancos have now won six, drawn three and lost one of 10 matches this season, and they are just one point behind league leaders Barcelona. Real Betis are languishing at the opposite end of the table, but a 2-1 triumph over Celta Vigo lifted them out of the relegation zone and up to the giddy heights of 16th place in midweek. However, their leaky defence could struggle against Real Madrid’s rampant attack at the Bernebeu on Saturday.

Team News

Welsh forward Gareth Bale missed the 5-0 win over Leganes with an injury and Brazilian wunderkind Vinicius Junior did not make the squad. Manager Zinedine Zidane turned to new signing Rodrygo to play alongside in-form Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard up top, and the decision proved to be a shrewd one. Rodrygo opened the scoring on seven minutes, and Real Madrid then blew their opponents away. Zidane was also buoyed by Luka Modric’s return from injury and he could start alongside Casemiro and Toni Kroos in midfield on Saturday.

Real Betis made two strong acquisitions this summer as they brought French playmaker Nabil Fekir and dangerous striker Borja Iglesias to Benito Villamarin. Both men have faced spells on the sideliners, but they were fit to start against Celta Vigo on Wednesday. Full-back Emerson put Betis 1-0 up, before Iago Aspas equalised from the penalty spot, but Fekir grabbed a last gasp winner. Veteran winger Joaquin is also a threat, while former Barcelona winger Christian Tello will be pushing for a start.

Betting Analysis

Real Betis have the worst defensive record in La Liga. They have conceded 21 goals in 11 games this season, and that does not bode well for a visit to the Bernebeu. Real Madrid just smashed Leganes 5-0 and competition for places should keep their forwards on their toes. Luka Jovic is piling pressure on Benzema, while there are plenty of exciting options in wide areas for Zidane to choose from, and he could shuffle his pack in this game. Betis have lost four and drawn one of their five away games, whereas Los Blancos have won four and drawn one of their five home matches. Real Madrid have more than enough quality going forwards to rip this struggling Betis defence apart, and they really should saunter to a convincing victory.

Tip: Real Madrid -1.5 Asian handicap at 1.75 (3/4) with Unibet
