Real Sociedad are in fine form this season...

Real Sociedad vs Leganes

Friday, November 8, at Anoeta

Real Sociedad picked up a strong 2-1 win away against in-form Granada last weekend and that should boost their morale ahead of this game. The result left them third in La Liga, level on points with leaders Barcelona and second placed Real Madrid. They now host a Leganes side that sit rock bottom of the table after losing nine of their 12 games so far. Javier Aguirre’s men have scored just six goals in that time, and conceded 21. That leaves them with the joint worst defensive record in the division and the joint worst attacking record. Sociedad will look at this as a game they really should win handsomely.

Team News

Martin Odegaard has been the star of the show for Real Sociedad this season. The Real Madrid loanee has finally begun to live up to his immense potential, and he has been running opposition defences ragged with his intelligence and dynamism on the ball. He was out injured for their 2-1 win over Granada, and he is a doubt for this match, but the Basque side have plenty of other players that can create chances. Luca Sangalli came in to replace the young Norwegian, and he could start again alongside Mikel Oryazabal and Portu, with Willian José up front.

Forward Youssef En-Nesyri finally scored his first goal of the season when Leganes hosted Eibar on Sunday, but they still lost 2-1. Strike partner Martin Braithwaite has scored three and Oscar Rodriguez has two. Yet no other Leganes player has scored all season, so the forwards are not getting much help from the midfield. Aguirre’s side have no injury problems of note, they just lack quality.

Betting Analysis

Leganes have lost four of their five home games this season, and they drew the other one. They have managed just two goals on their travels and their last road trip resulted in a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Real Madrid. Sociedad have made a superb start to the season and they look like genuine contenders for a European place right now, so they really should beat Leganes at home.

Tip: Real Sociedad to win at 1/75 (3/4) with Betfair; Sociedad and under 4.5 goals at 1.91 (10/11) with Paddy Power
