Sevilla should sweep Leganes aside...

Sevilla vs Leganes

Sunday, December 1, at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan

Sevilla will bid to maintain a strong recent run of form when they host bottom club Leganes at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Sunday. Julen Lopetegui’s men are up to third in the table, just one point behind leaders Barcelona, after winning their last two matches. Leganes have lost 10 of 14 games so far this season and they are now eight points adrift of 17th placed Mallorca. Sevilla should pile more misery upon them this weekend.

Team News

Sevilla had winger Lucas Ocampos sent off in injury time during their 1-0 win away win a Valladolid at the weekend. He will miss this game, but they are injury free right now and they should be able to field a strong team on Sunday. New striker Luuk de Jong has only managed two goals so far this season, but Sevilla have spread the goals around the team well. Ocampos and Munir El Haddadi are their top scorers, with five apiece, and Munir could get the nod to start alongside de Jong and Nolito now that Ocampos is suspended. Former Man Utd, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and West Ham forward Javier Hernandez offers another intriguing option in attack.

Just three players have scored for Leganes this season, compared to 11 for Sevilla. Youssef En-Nesyri scored his third of the campaign in a 2-1 defeat to Barcelona at the weekend, while Danish forward Martin Braithwaite also has three and Oscar Rodriguez has scored twice. They have all acquitted themselves well despite a lack of service, but they are not getting much support from midfield. Fede Varela, Marc Navarro and Alexander Szymanowski are injured for Leganes.

Betting Analysis

Leganes have proven to be a tough nut to crack in recent weeks. They play five men across the defence and pack the midfield, so it takes a fair amount of patience and creativity to break them down. They battled to a 1-1 draw away at Real Sociedad and only narrowly lost to Barcelona last time out. Yet Sevilla have enough quality within their ranks to open up this stubborn side, and the hosts should be able to grind out a low scoring victory on Sunday. They have scored eight goals and conceded only five in their six home games so far, so combining a Sevilla win with an under 4.5 or 3.5 goal caveat is an appealing option.

Tip: Sevilla to win and under 4.5 goals at 1.73 (8/11) with Coral
