They had taken just one point from their previous five games, but that win saw them reignite their bid to finish third in the Premier League table. It was the first game in their shiny new stadium, and they will be desperate to maintain a 100% record there. However, they have been poor of late, and their recent record against Man City leaves much to be desired.

Pep Guardiola’s men have beaten Tottenham on each of their last three meetings. It finished 1-0 to Man City when they played at Wembley earlier in the season, and they won 4-1 and 3-1 last season. The Premier League champions are on fire at the moment and they extended their winning streak to eight games when they beat Brighton 1-0 on Saturday. They are now into the FA Cup final, they have already won the Carabao Cup and they are the favourites to win the Premier League and the Champions League, so a quadruple could be on the cards. They thrashed German side Schalke 7-0 in their last Champions League game.

Team News

Sergio Aguero is a doubt for this game after he missed Man City’s win over Brighton at the weekend. Gabriel Jesus has proven himself to be an able deputy, but City would miss the composure and dynamism of Aguero in attack. Kyle Walker will also be assessed after tweaking a hamstring against Brighton. However, Man City are boosted by the return of Benjamin Mendy at left-back, and they now have Kevin De Bruyne firing on all cylinders. A midfield also featuring David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and Fernandinho should be able to control this game.

Tottenham have Dele Alli back in business, while Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen are all fit. Eric Dier and Erik Lamela remain out, and Serge Aurier is unlikely to recover in time. Spurs can take confidence from the way they ripped Borussia Dortmund apart in the last round, but a midfield of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko looks a bit lightweight against Fernandinho and co.

Betting Tips

Spurs are strong at the back and great in attack, but a lack of quality in the middle of the park could be their undoing. Man City to win are 4/5 (1.80) with bookmakers to win this and that looks like a good bet.

Related articles:

Liverpool v FC Porto: Champions League Betting Preview
