Can Chelsea maintain their long winning streak?

They were hamstrung by a transfer ban that prevented them from signing new players in the summer, but new manager Lampard has worked wonders with the resources available to him. Chelsea now boast a fantastic blend of youth and experience, and they play bold, exciting football. A 4-2 away win against Burnley on Saturday cemented their position in the top four, and they are just two points behind champions Man City. They have now won seven on the bounce in all competitions, and they should be able to topple bottom club Watford.

Team News

Watford have drawn three in a row, but it has not been enough to lift them off the bottom of the table. They are still without a win this season and they have struggled at both ends of the pitch. The Hornets have managed just five goals in 10 games and injured captain Troy Deeney has been a huge miss up front. They started Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Perreyra, neither of whom are strikers, up front in their 0-0 draw against Bournemouth on Saturday. They have been reasonably solid of late, but Chelsea are magnificent in midfield and could will be difficult for Nathaniel Chalobah, Tom Cleverley and Abdoulaye Doucouré to seize control of this game.

Chelsea have been without N’Golo Kante, arguably the best midfielder in the Premier League, as the Frenchman has been injured. Yet Matteo Kovacic and Jorginho were superb against Burnley, with the dynamic Mason Mount in the number 10 role behind livewire striker Tammy Abraham – who is due a goal. American playmaker Christian Pulisic was the star of the show against Burnley, as he fired in a hat-trick, and there is great competition for places alongside Abraham. Callum Hudson-Odoi, Willian and Pedro are all vying for a start, while Michy Batshuayi offers a threat off the bench and Olivier Giround cannot get a look-in. Fikayo Tomori and Kurt Zouma have looked reasonably solid at the back of late too, despite Burnley scoring twice late in the game at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Betting Analysis

Watford have looked a lot harder to beat under new manager Quique Sanchez Flores in recent weeks. However, that is largely down to strong performances from Doucouré, Chalobah and Cleverley, and they will face a ferocious test against Chelsea’s brilliant midfielders. The Blues are surging with confidence right now and they have a great deal of momentum. They should be able to break down a Watford defence that concedes 2.4 goals per game and close out victory.

Tip: Chelsea -0.75 Asian handicap at 1.87 (87/100) with Bet365
