With Underdogs cashing at a higher rate than previous seasons we have put together some of our best underdogs to bet on for this weekend’s set of European football matches.

Saturday

Hoffenheim vs. Arminia Belfield

Saturday, January 16th, 2021 – 2.30pm GMT at PreZero Arena

Hoffenheim started off the season in decent form, averaging 8 points from a total of 18, however that form has now slipped to averaging 4 points from 18. Their opponents are newly promoted and are expected to be sent back down to the second division but currently they sit two points above the relegation zone and will fancy their chances against this Hoffenheim team on Saturday.

Just two league points separate these teams and Belfield have an opportunity to move ahead of Hoffenheim with a win. The odds suggest Belfield only have a 25% chance to win, but we believe that figure to be closer to 32%, which is odds of 3.13 but the books are offering slightly better value at 5.0 with Betfair. You would be a brave person to bet on Hoffenheim at odds of 1.72 considering their form right now, give us the underdog in this fixture.

Underdog Pick: Arminia Belfield Win at 5.0 with Betfair (visit our Betfair Review)

Torino vs. Spezia

Saturday, January 16th, 2021 – 5pm GMT at Stadio Olimpico di Torino

The odds in this matchup make zero sense, Spezia are currently 14th in Serie A and 5 points ahead of Torino in the league table. Torino are dead last in the league in terms of home form as they have only taken a total of 4 points from a potential 24, whilst opponents Spezia have an above average away record considering their newly promoted with 11 points taken from 24.

After hearing all that you would think it’s at least a 50/50 game, but the bookmakers have made Torino a clear favorite at odds of 2.0, whilst Spezia are currently best priced at 4.0. The only rationality behind these odds can be the books knowing the average punter knows who Torino are and most might not have herd of Spezia, therefore they want action on Torino believing they won’t win the game. We won’t be fooled by this trickery; Spezia is the play here at odds of 4.0.

Underdog Pick: Spezia Win at 4.0 with Betway

Leicester City vs. Southampton

Saturday, January 16th, 2021 – 8pm GMT at King Power Stadium

The 2021 Premier League season has been one of the hardest for sports betters of this league to date, most of this is mostly because of fixture congestion due to the current worldwide pandemic. It’s very hard to trust any team right now in the Premier League, so when we see a matchup that we believe is closer to a 50/50 than the bookies current suggested 55/25 (both excluding the draw) then we must consider this play.

Southampton are coming in right now at odds of 4.2 to beat Leicester City away from home, these odds are overpriced, and we believe Southampton should be in around 2.9 to win this game. Over the previous ten games only one points separates these two teams and the Saints have kept the 2nd most clean sheets in the league over the previous ten league games.

A draw could be on the cards here, which is available at odds of 3.8. We wouldn’t put anyone off taking Southampton at 4.2 either, stay away from Leicester at odds of 1.80, even if they do win theirs zero value on this play.

Underdog Pick: Draw at 3.9 with PaddyPower

Sunday

Bayern Munich vs. Freiberg

Sunday, January 17th, 2021 – 2.30pm GMT at Allianz Arena

This Bundesliga underdog play is practically a no brainer even if it does go on too loose. Right now Freiberg are the in-form team in the Bundesliga, they have won 5/5 games, which is the best form in the league. Behind them is their opponents in this fixture, the mighty Bayern Munich, who have 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss.

Munich have used their “get out of jail” card on more than one occasion this season and have not been overly impressive, with that being said they are still the current league leaders so read into that whatever way you like. It’s always hard to bet against Munich, even when you believe they might not win, their team is full of superstars.

We are looking to take the away underdogs at +1.5 goals at odds of 2.40, this means if they win, draw or lose by 1 goal you will win this bet. They will look to keep the scoring to a minimum and hope for the best (which can be difficult at the best of times as Mainz found out recently). For those braver than ourselves, Freiberg are 11.00 to outright win the game.

Underdog Pick: Freiberg +1.5 at 2.40 with Bet365 (visit our Bet365 Review)
