The final spots for the Berlin Major at the end of August will be decided in the next week!

If you only take one thing away from this article, I hope that it would be to stay far away from the outrights for this qualifier. The CIS is incredibly well-known for producing 'giant-killers' at major qualifiers and the main event. Over the last few years we have seen teams like Flipside, Gambit, Vega Squadron, Quantam Bellator Fire, Avangar, Winstrike, and Spirit take maps off much better teams in group stages. Uniquely it ONLY seems to be the Majors where these rosters make an impact internationally, before returning to their mostly meaningless online tournaments and leagues for the remainder of the calendar.

For the first time in awhile at the CIS qualifier there is no clear favourite. Yes, I am aware that Forze has been priced around even money to win it, but they've also lost to three of the teams attending in the last three months [albeit online]. When I speak to true favourites I am referring to consistent calibre on LAN. Teams from this region that I would legitimately call far ahead of their regional competition at past events are teams like Gambit and Hellraisers. Due to a number of roster swaps in the months leading up to this event and a few of the better teams already waiting in the Challengers Stage, this qualifier is wide-open!

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

.@somedieyoungCS of @Team__Spirit: \"The level of competition in CIS is growing and that is very welcome. That said, they would likely have to mess up heavily not to progress passed this stage given the talent of some of their players. For their opener I am currently of two minds. I find value on Forze provided they do not play Mirage, but I am concerned that they may go there anyway because it is their strongest map. In other words, I've found that Syman's best probability to cover a +5.5 is actually on Forze's most consistently won map. That may seem counter-intuitive, however based on the pure weakness Syman shows on other maps I would prefer Forze to take advantage of the better map pool. So I will play Forze -5.5 at 1.8 or better provided we see a map besides Mirage - Dust2 or Train ideally. Syman ought to be banning Nuke and Inferno. If we do see Mirage, I will wait for a better live number, like a -3.5 or perhaps a 1.7 ml etc.

BETS:

-Dreameaters (+5.5) v Spirit @ 1.85 17/20 [Pinnacle]

-Nemiga (-5.5) v Warthox @ 2.00 1/1 [Bet365]

-Unique (ml) v Gambit Youngsters @ 1.99 99/100 [Pinnacle]

If you would like to discuss any of the matches I did not go into further detail about, or the ASIA minor, contact me @lockeqwerty
