Delhi Capitals squad is primed to improve after years of misery in IPL title race.

<h2><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Delhi Capitals 2019 Team Profile</span></span></h2><p><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>Coach:</strong> Ricky Ponting<br /><strong>Captain:</strong> Shreyas Iyer<br /><strong>IPL title wins:</strong> 0<br /><strong>IPL play-off appearances: </strong>3<br /><strong>IPL title odds:</strong> 8/1 (9.0)</span></span></p><h2><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">A Capital idea</span></span></h2><p><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Under their old nickname (the Daredevils), Delhi were a disaster. In fact, that’s what they should have been called. The Disasters. After two semi-final appearances in the first two years, they have finished in the top four once. But it would be unfair to tar them with the old brush of failure. The Delhi Capitals squad is young, thrusting and dangerous. Watching them will be one of the IPL highlights.</span></span></p><h2><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">India’s top four</span></span></h2><p><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">It is not inconceivable that the top four batsmen for Delhi could, in any format, also be India’s top four. Privthi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer and Rish Pant are so good that they would win India more games then they would lose. It’s a tremendous line-up and unrivalled in terms of homegrown strength. Shaw could be the new Sachin Tendulkar. He’s that good. Certainly he will be lauded in the future alongside the likes of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni.</span></span></p><h2><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">A great bet, then?</span></span></h2><p><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Possibly. The problem with Delhi is balance. Yes, they have Indian batting strength. But Ishant Sharma is the only Indian pacer of repute they possess. And boasting Indian pacers is often seen as a marker for success. South African Kagiso Rabada and Kiwi Trent Boult will alternate alongside but we’re not convinced they’re great shakes.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><img alt src="" style="width:600px;height:338px;" /></span></span></p><h2><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Delhi Capitals Squad 2019 breakdown</span></span></h2><p><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>Openers:</strong> Colin Munro, Prithvi Shaw, Manjot Kalra, Shikhar Dhawan<br /><strong>Middle-order Batsmen:</strong> Hanuma Vihari, Colin Ingram, Shreyas Iyer,<br /><strong>Wicketkeepers:</strong> Ankush Bains, Rish Pant<br /><strong>Allrounders:</strong> Chris Morris, Jalaj Saxena, Axar Patel, Sherfane Rutherford, Bandaru Ayyappa,<br /><strong>Wristspinners:</strong> Amit Mishra, Rahul Tewatia, Sandeep Lamichhane<br /><strong>Fast Bowlers: </strong>Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan, Trent Boult, Ishant Sharma, Keemo Paul, Nathu Singh </span></span></p><p><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>Read more:</strong> <a href="" target="_blank" title="Full IPL 2019 Betting Guide">Full IPL 2019 Betting Guide</a></span></span></p><h2>Related articles:</h2><ul> <li><strong><a data-reactid="." href="" target="_blank">Sunrisers Hyderabad: IPL 2019 Team Profile</a></strong></li> <li><strong><a data-reactid="." href="" target="_blank">Chennai Super Kings: IPL 2019 Team Profile</a></strong></li> <li><strong><a data-reactid="." href="" target="_blank">Rajasthan Royals: IPL 2019 Team Profile</a></strong></li></ul>
