Time to get involved with the 2019/2020 season of Dota!

INTRO

The first big LAN of the new Dota2 season is here. It might not be providing any DPC points to The International 10, however it's hard not to be excited for some Dota back in our lives after a serious TI withdrawal hits us every September.

Usually I am very slow to move back into the next DPC and will wait until the first minor of the season, however this year is a little different and will get my feet wet with the playoffs at Hamburg. With the amount of roster and coaching changes that occurred over the past month, you might wish to refresh your memory on who is where now before laying any bets downs – definitely too many to cover in this short article!

The first two playoff matches were concluded today with Gambit and TNC sweeping their best-of-three series over Vici and Alliance. They will now face each other in the upper-bracket finals, while Vici and Alliance are relegated to the lower-bracket. Vici will meet the winner of Beastcoast vs Wind and Rain, while Alliance plays the winner of Ninjas in Pyjamas vs Virtus Pro.

Matches:

-Wind&Rain (+1.5) v Beastcoast @ 2.14 [Pinnacle]

-Nip (ml) v Virtus Pro @ 2.60 [Pinnacle]

-Gambit (+1.5) v TNC @ 1.80 [Bet365]

-Gambit (ml) v TNC @ 3.50 [Bet365]

My biggest recommendation to this point is – don't trust your gut! It's too early in the year to have any sort of hierarchy of how teams fit in where, who the true favorites are, or should be. Your gut is more likely to lead you into 'they looked good in that 2-0 very lopsided series, lets go with that at whatever the price may be'. This is a general caution, I am sure many of you will have a keen eye for the flaws of many teams drafts and/or teamplay right now – that said, this is the first big tournament many of the new rosters have had to work out the kinks. This can add to the volatility of results in a short span as teams are learning new things about each other on the fly. Will post what I am on throughout the weekend – welcome back DOTA!
