DP World Tour Championship

Nov 21-24
Jumeirah Earth Course, Dubai

An opportunity for the cream of the European Tour to end their season with a big cheque or victory awaits the top 50 players on the ‘Race to Dubai’ ranking. A Greg Norman-designed course which is not too challenging in a lovely climate is a great way and reward to finish the professionals’ long seasons.

Betting Predictions and Tips

2017 Masters champion, Patrick Reed has been a competitor in Dubai for the previous three seasons and on each occasion finishing in the top 10 with a runner up finish in last season’s tournament the best. The American is possibly the most travelled and hardest working pro amongst the sport's higher echelon. With four top-ten finishes in his last nine tournaments worldwide he looks a lock for another top 10 here with a chance to win also.

Two-time champion, Henrik Stenson is a player comfortable with playing golf and often based in Dubai. It has to be stated that the Swede has been in contention relatively little despite consistent efforts these past two seasons so makes appeal more in the place markets than win.

Two Englishmen, Matthew Fitzpatrick won in 2016 while Lee Westwood won in 2009 and these two arrive in Dubai in particularly good form due to back to back top 10 finishes in their last two starts. It has been over a year since Fitzpatrick won, but his consistency has been superb with nine top 10 finishes in the fourteen-month interim. Westwood has not been as consistent but often reserves his best play for this time of year as was evident last week when he put up a stout defence of his Nedbank Golf Challenge title, eventually finishing 6th. At the bigger price of the two Westwood is preferred for a top 10 finish at 4.50.

Netherland's Joost Luiten always requires a second glance in Dubai with a plethora of solid form at the Earth Course. Last week in South Africa at the Nedbank Golf Challenge he was his dependable self with poor final round costing him a top 5 finish. His best performance of 2019 was a third-place finish at the season-opening Abu Dhabi Championship. Now in the desert again he has the perfect chance to bookend, what has been a solid if unspectacular season with his best results. For betting purpose it could be prudent to choose the safe top 20 option for Luiten.

In recent week's Spaniard, Jorge Campillo has re-discovered his good form from earlier in the golfing year. His form in Spring was sublime, with winning the Trophee Hassan the highlight, sandwiched between four other top 3 finishes in five events. There was a noticeable improvement at the Open De France, since he has built on that at the Turkish Airlines Open and last week in South Africa. A ninth-place finish in 2016 shows that he can handle the track and an outside bet worth considering at Bet365 is each-way in the Top Continental European market at 61.00.

Belgian, Thomas Detry impressed last week in South Africa with a 3rd place finish. Last year in Dubai he made an impressive debut with a top 30 finish despite a disappointing final round of 74. Still to win on the European Tour this year we can expect him to improve for course experience and represents a good bet for a top 20 finish.

With this week being a small field event, just the two bets but a few ideas to consider as there are plenty of markets to use.

Recommended Bets:

Jorge Campillo – each way - Top Continental European @ 61.00 (60/1) Bet365

Lee Westwood – Top 10 @ 5.00 (4/1) Ladbrokes
