The playoffs have arrived for ESL One Katowice's Dota2 tournament. Let's look at what we learned and who is shaping up for a run!

Recap

Three days of group play finished today. Based on my pre-tournament article we had some excellent results betting this stage and 2/3 profitable days. The tournament favourites, Team Secret, only dropped their opening map against OG before winning the next 9 and topping Group A. The other two teams I made special note of on the futures markets were NiP and Fnatic. Those two topped Group B and, for the most part, were able to do so with little difficulty. While writing this they are playing off against Gambit and Secret in the upper-bracket (I will be making notes!).

OG and Mineski looked very average. The one, somewhat surprising result was the Brazilian-mix roster Chaos taking a map off of NiP, plus sweeping Aster and Complexity. They're playing better Dota than their next opponents Mineski.

Similarly, though OG has fallen in form since their miracle TI run last August, they seem to be gelling a bit better with Russian addition 'iLTW.' I would strongly favor them against Aster. The Chinese roster only truly performed to expectations against the weakest teams in their group and even that seemed like a struggle.

Wagers

-OG (ml) v Aster @ 1.5 [Betway]

-Chaos (ml) v Mineski @ 2.05 [Pinnacle]

My darkhorse from the CIS region, Gambit, had a strong showing as well with sweeps against OG and Mineski. I think their loss at the hands of Secret today is a good experience for them as they still have a lot of work to put in to truly contest with the best. Assuming Fnatic and Secret take care of business in the upper-bracket, Gambit and Nip really shouldn't struggle in the lower bracket. I'll be looking to play them both as often as possible if the price is right, but don't need to push it however as we still have the futures on them to qualify for the final in last week's article.
