What are the hot tips and best bets for the contest in the T20 tournament?

Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Jamaica Tallawahs

Thursday 3 October 2019, Providence

At the start of the tournament, this denouement match promised much. In the end, it delivers, well, nothing. It’s meaningless. Guyana Amazon Warriors have swept all before them and with eight wins from eight, cannot be caught at the top of the pile. Jamaica Tallawahs were knocked out a week ago.

We’re always slightly worried by meaningless matches. Guyana could well rest some of their best players – although the smart thing is to keep winning, keep building confidence and momentum – while Jamaica’s players could be even less interested than when something was riding on their matches. That’s a low rating.

The layers are not alarmed. They have no fears about placing odds of 1.57 (4/7 with Betfair, Paddy Power) on the Warriors, safe in the knowledge that few will play. And even fewer will play at the 2.5 (6/4) that William Hill offer about the Tallawahs.

The Tallawahs have won two from nine and if there is any surface in the tournament that their big hitters are going to struggle on, it is surely Providence. Likewise if there is any bowling attack…well, you get the picture.

Hitters like Chris Gayle and Chadwick Walton need a fast, true and flat surface. And pacers to swing their arms freely at. Not an army of spinners who will expose lazy techniques or suspect timing.

Gayle, who managed seven against GAW previously, is having a bad tournament. He made an epic 116 against the Patriots. But it still resulted in defeat. Since then, he has busted 30 once. That means his average of 27 is rather untrustworthy. Ladbrokes go 1.83 (5/6) that Gayle fails to bust 25.5. The big question with Gayle is whether he can be bothered. He hasn’t been fussed this term so it would be strange if he suddenly found his mojo.

We also like the 1.95 that Unibet offer about Guyana hitting more fours that Jamaica. The sign of a good T20 side is not one which powers the most sixes, but the boundary fours. It’s skill, timing and placement rather than muscle that counts.

Best Bet

Back Guyana most fours 1.95 Unibet
