The Houston Astros have the best record in MLB right now and they have been installed as the outright favourites to seize World Series glory.

A.J. Hinch’s men romped to victory in 2017 after a tense series against the Dodgers and they enjoyed a strong 103-win season in 2018. They ended up losing to the Red Sox in the AL Championship Series, but key men have returned from injury and many are tipping them to seize a second World Series this year. They are now as low as 3/1 (+300) with some betting sites, although Boyle Sports is offering a market leading 5/1 (+500) on them.

It comes after a 3-1 victory over the Red Sox, who went on to win the World Series last year. That game saw Astros reliever Ryan Pressly pitch a 1-2-3 eighth inning to extend his run of scoreless outings to 39. It ensured that he broke the record set by Craig Kimbrel, who went 38 appearances without allowing a run in 2011. The 30-year-old has mined a rich vein of form since Houston snapped him up at last season’s trade deadline. The vast majority of his scoreless games have been on the road, showing just how well he has dealt with pressure.

The Astros are now just 1/20 (-2000) to win the AL West after surging to the strongest regular season record in the MLB thus far. William Hill has a market leading 9/4 (+225) on them winning the AL. However, they are sure to face stern competition from the Yankees – priced at 3/1 (+300) – who are 8-2 in their last 10 games and now sit top of the AL East. The Red Sox are third in the AL East and they have drifted out to 13/2 (+650) to win the AL. The Dodgers are the clear favourites to win the NL once more at 11/4 (+275) with William Hill.
