Expecting big runs for Mohali early on Sunday and the two openers could profit from a flat track.

It’s a rapid turnaround for India and Australia for game four of their five-match one-day series. With just a day to travel and net after game three in Ranchi, the two sides will battle it out at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Chandigarh. And it looks like being a blockbuster after the Aussies hit back with a surprisingly comfortable win by 32 runs.

The series is intriguingly poised at 2-1 to the hosts. However, any hope that the betting markets would heat up as a result have been met with disappointment. There’s not a huge amount of movement in India’s price for this one.

Bet365 are best about India at 8/15 (1.53) with Australia 7/4 (2.75) with Betfair and Paddy Power. We think India will win (they are multi-dimensional and Ranchi can be dismissed as a blip on a tricky wicket) but we’re pretty sure you’re not logging on to this page to be told an 8/15 shot is worth following. You want, quite rightly, more bang for your buck.

Fortunately there are plenty of side markets to keep us interested. We are expecting big runs in Mohali. The wicket is well known as one which favours the batters. It is, frankly, a batting paradise as Rohit Sharma’s extraordinary 208 not out bears testament to the last time an ODI was played there in 2017.

Last time we spoke of the importance of players enjoying the feelgood vibe when returning to a venue where they have done well previously. Rohit is likely to feel like a million bucks when he walks over the white line. He needs it, too, as by his standards he has had a disappointing time.

Rohit gets a 3/1 (4.0) quote from Betfair for top India bat. He is well overdue for a good score although betting him at 9/1 (10.0) for man of the match with Bet365 could be a shrewd move. With the bowlers likely to get very little joy we can wipe out half the protagonists. So a top-bat effort may be all Rohit needs to land the odds.

It might also be worth having a saver on KL Rahul at 9/1 (10.0) (again with Betfair). We reckon Rahul, a young buck who hits a long ball, could be drafted in for Shikhar Dhawan as India look to shuffle the pack. Rahul is hugely talented and if he was any other nationality he would be one of the most consistently dangerous players in the world. But he just can’t get an extended run. He could seize his chance here.
