Each week of the NFL season the OddsMarket NFL team will release a Pigskin Parlay article

Each week of the NFL season the Odds Market NFL team will release a Pigskin Parlay article. They may differ from week to week. One week it could be a Teaser, the next week it could be a spread or money line parlay. The goal, to finish the season with more units than we started with.

Through 2 weeks, we are (1-1). Unfortunately, I expected a lot more points then we got in the Rams / Saints game. But nonetheless, we are dead even, no harm no foul. Week 3 has multiple spots where I think we can pick up a parlay win. This is the last week I will say this but, remember moderation through the first month of the NFL season. Half Units not full, less volume not more. Ok enough of the betting lesson, let’s get after it.

Week 3: 2 TEAM ACCUMULATOR

LA Rams vs Cleveland Browns:

Earlier this season for Odds Market I wrote a NFC season win total article. I told the world that the Browns were nowhere near as good as the betting market thought they were. Through 2 weeks of the season, I am right… so far anyway. The Browns got destroyed in week 1 by a Titans team that I don’t like much at all. In week 2 the Browns took it to the New York Jets. The problem with that dominant 23-3 win, is the Jets had a 3rd string quarterback in for most of the game. So how good was that game for the Browns really? The defense looked great, but the Jets wouldn’t have been able to move the ball against my varsity high school team Monday night. However, Baker Mayfield and the offensive unit left a lot to be desired. They looked sloppy at times, possessions stalled out, and Mayfield looked ok, not great.

It is a different story however, for the Los Angeles Rams. They shook the rust off in week 1 of the season, caught their stride in the 2nd half and escaped with a victory over the Panthers. The rust was expected since head coach Sean McVay didn’t play all his starters in the preseason. I expected a much better effort in week 2, and that is exactly what we got. They were dominant against the New Orleans Saints. It didn’t help the saints out that they lost Drew Brees at QB for half the game, but I don’t think it would have mattered. Everything clicked for the Rams and made a statement in week 2.

So, what happens this week? Well a lot people appear to be taking the points with the Cleveland Browns and I won’t be one of them. I don’t see it. The Rams currently have a top 5 defense and the best defensive player on earth. Considering how sloppy the Browns were offensively last week, I don’t see them moving the ball easily. If that is the case, they are in trouble because the Rams offense is a machine. In the end the Browns will not be able to keep up with the Rams. Even though the Browns are home, it doesn’t matter this week. There are levels in this game, and the Browns aren’t on the Rams level. Lay the point!

LEG ONE – Los Angeles Rams to win -3.0 at 50/59 (1.84) – Bet365

New Orleans Saints vs Seattle Seahawks:

What a difference a week makes for the New Orleans Saints. They went from escaping week 1 with a last second victory, to half their season being over because of a broken finger. Drew Brees left last week’s game with a broken finger and the reports are bad for the Saints. He will miss at least 6 weeks due to the injury. So how does that translate to this week? Well backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will now have to lead the Saints into one of the leagues most hostile environments. Will he be able to live up to the call? Judging from how bad he looked in the 2ND half last week, my guess is no.

On the other side of the field will be the Seattle Seahawks. A team that I didn’t know how to gauge after week 1. They escaped with a one-point victory at home against one of the worst teams in professional football. My gut said maybe Seattle isn’t as good as I thought they were this year, but week 2 made me feel better. They put forth a great effort on the road in Pittsburgh last week. Again, it was another game where they played a team that lost it’s starting quarterback, but I don’t hold it against the Hawks. Russel Wilson looks to be in midseason form. He threw for 300 yards and 3 TD’s against the Steelers but what was most impressive was his impeccable decision making. The Seahawks are healthy and in a much better position than the Saints right now, not to mention the analytics put them just outside the top 10 in both offense and defense. At home against a backup quarterback? OK, I’M IN.

LEG TWO – Seattle Seahawks moneyline at 10/21 (1.47) with Bet365

Pigskin Parlay Wrap Up

NFL Week 3: 2 TEAM ACCUMULATOR
LEG ONE: Los Angeles Rams -3 points to win at (1.91)
LEG TWO: Seattle Seahawks moneyline at (1.47)
TOTAL STAKE – (1 unit) TO WIN (2.65)
PARLAY BANK – (10 Units to start)
TOTAL PROFIT/LOSS – (+0.00u)
CURRENT BANK – (10 UNITS)
