Players Championship Finals

22nd-24th November 2019

Brendan Dolan v Ross Smith

Brendan Dolan just missed out on qualifying for the knock out stages of the Grand Slam of darts last weekend and showed glimpses of qualify with his win over Veenstra.

Dolan won 8 legs and conceded 11 as he lost to both Clemens and Gurney, but has the opportunity here to move into the second round of the tournament against a weaker opponent in Ross Smith.

Smith lost all his matches last week and never really competed in any of them. Any chances he had he didn’t take and in this shorter format, Smith will have to impose his game well, otherwise will be on his way home early.

The pick here is Dolan to overcome Smith given his performances last week were a lot better, giving him more confidence to follow up this week and progress.

Top Tip: 1.91 (10/11) Brendan Dolan to beat Ross Smith with Bet365

Max Hopp v Jelle Klaasen

22nd November, Afternoon

Both these players have the potential to compete with the best in darts, but time after time they are not consistant enough and this means they fall to quality for major tournaments. Hopp is still young and rated highly, but hasn’t quite hit form.

Klaasen on the other hand has performed well in the World Championships and with a month to go until the biggest event of the year, Klaasen will look to gain his confidence to cause a few shocks like he has done before.

Altough not really showing emotion, Klaasen does have the quality to go deep in this tournament and beat some of the highly ranked players. However the first step is to overcome Hopp which he can do.

Top Tip: 2.2 (6/5) Jelle Klaasen to beat Max Hopp with Ladbrokes

1st Round Acca

22nd November, Afternoon

It’s knock out darts this week and three in form players can get off to a flyer and progress to the 2nd round. Our first round ‘Acca’ starts with Glen Durrant who caused a few upsets last week to progress to the semi-finals to beat Scott Baker. Durrant is playing very well and is a lively outsider to go deep in this tournament.

Next up is Dave Chisnall to beat inexperienced Matthew Edgar. Chisnall is playing some great darts and showed this last week by topping his group and giving Wright a very close game in the knock out stage.

Finally, Ian White to beat Devon Petersen. White was another player to come out of last week with confidence after giving Michel van Gerwen a big fright as White got off to a good lead, only for van Gerwen to show why his world number 1.

In the group stages White threw some great darts and has confidence he can compete with the top players and this week is another chance for him to show this.

Top Tip: (2.3) 13/10 Glen Durrant, Dave Chisnall & Ian White all to win their first round matches with Betfair.
